Lesson notes

You may have translated your product descriptions and store pages, but your customers write reviews in their own languages. A shopper can understand the product page and still be unable to read what other buyers say about the product.

Help shoppers read reviews in their own language

Your existing reviews already contain useful details about how products fit, work, or hold up after use. Shoppers in another market may have the same questions, even if they speak a different language from the customers who wrote those reviews.

Translating that feedback makes it easier for more shoppers to use it when deciding what to buy. For example, someone browsing your store in Spanish could read feedback originally written in English or French without translating it elsewhere.

The original wording should remain available too. A shopper who understands both languages may want to compare the translation with the customer's words. Giving them access to both versions lets them choose which to read.

Set up translations for existing and new reviews

In this lesson, you'll set up Judge.me's AI review translations. You can translate reviews automatically into the language a shopper is browsing in, or let shoppers translate individual reviews with one click. They can use Show original to read the original text.

Translations cover the titles and text of existing reviews and continue for new reviews. Your replies stay in the language you wrote them in, so check those separately when reviewing your page.

For automatic translations, use the latest Review Widget. Go to Settings, then Language, then Widgets and translations. Enable review translations, choose Translate reviews automatically, and save. You also need multi-language widgets enabled and the relevant language published under Settings, then Languages, in Shopify.

Judge.me can take up to 48 hours to identify the languages of your existing reviews. After that, open a product page in one of your published languages and check the translations. Continue to Lesson 9 for a recap of the course and the actions to take next.
