Publishing and hiding reviews

Automatically publishing reviews or choosing to moderate them manually.

Updated this week

Judge.me makes it easy to build trust by publishing customer reviews automatically or manually. By default, all reviews are published automatically to help you share feedback quickly and transparently. You can also switch to manual moderation if you prefer to review each submission first.

Publish and hide reviews

Publishing all reviews, including negative ones, shows that your brand values honesty and transparency. Shoppers are more likely to trust stores that don’t filter out negative feedback.

Publish reviews automatically

By default, Judge.me automatically publishes all reviews to help you earn that trust with every purchase. If you want to review submissions before they appear on your store, you can enable manual moderation.

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Manage reviews > Moderation.

  2. Select Publish reviews manually.

  3. Click Save.

For other e-commerce platforms

  1. Go to Settings > Review Widget > Review Moderation.

  2. Disable Publish new reviews automatically.

  3. Click Save.

Publish reviews manually

If you're moderating reviews manually, you can easily publish them from your dashboard:

  1. From your Judge.me Reviews app, go to Manage Reviews > Reviews Dashboard.

  2. Choose the review you want and click Publish.

  3. To publish multiple reviews at once, check the boxes next to the reviews, then click the Publish review button at the bottom of the page.

Choose a reason when hiding reviews

Sometimes you need to hide a review to maintain a safe, relevant, and transparent review environment for your shoppers. Judge.me allows you to do this - but to align with review transparency policies and consumer protection laws, you must choose a reason from a predefined list.

  1. From your Judge.me Reviews app, go to Manage Reviews > Reviews Dashboard.

  2. Find the review you want to hide, then select the most appropriate reason from the dropdown menu.

  3. Your review will be hidden with the reason next to it.

  4. To hide multiple reviews at once, check the boxes next to the reviews, then click the Hide review button at the bottom of the page.

  5. Select the reason to hide from the drop-down menu.

List of reasons

  • Unrelated to the product – The review discusses something unrelated to the product itself (e.g., delivery or packaging).

  • Legal reasons – The review contains potentially defamatory or legally sensitive statements.

  • Inappropriate language – The review includes offensive, abusive, or discriminatory language.

  • Foreign language – The review is in a language not supported or understood by your store’s audience.

  • Contains private information – The review shares personal data like full names, emails, or order numbers.

  • False or misleading – The review spreads inaccurate information about the product.

  • Duplicated review – The same review has been posted multiple times.

  • Fake – The review is suspected to be fabricated or written by a bot or non-genuine user.

  • Other – A reason that doesn’t fit the above categories but still warrants moderation.

Mark a review as incentivized

If you're running a rewards campaign—such as offering coupons through Judge.me—you can (and should) mark relevant reviews as incentivized. This improves transparency and aligns with trust guidelines across e-commerce platforms.

Automatic detection for Judge.me Coupons

When you use Judge.me Coupons in your rewards campaigns and enable the transparency badge, reviews submitted via those campaigns are automatically marked as incentivized.

Mark a review as incentivized in the Reviews Dashboard

  1. Go to Manage Reviews > Reviews Dashboard.

  2. Find the review you want to mark as an incentivized review, and click on the (...) icon on the left.

  3. Select Mark review as incentivized from the drop-down menu.

Note: This option is only available if you choose to display the transparency badge for incentivized reviews on the Review Widget.

Auto-publish reviews based on ratings

✅ Unlock the ability to publish reviews based on ratings with a 15-day free trial of our Awesome plan!

If you want to auto-publish reviews with specific ratings (e.g., 4 or 5 stars), you can enable auto-publish rating criteria. Reviews that don’t meet your criteria will be temporarily hidden.

To comply with Shopify's regulation, the temporarily hidden reviews that are not moderated will be published automatically after 14 days. We strongly encourage you to publish all valid reviews as soon as possible.
