Hide or censor offensive reviews automatically—try Judge.me Awesome free for 15 days.
Keeping your store respectful is key to building customer trust. With Judge.me’s profanity filter, you can detect and manage offensive language in your reviews.
How it works
When the profanity filter is enabled, Judge.me checks each new review when the shopper submits it.
The profanity filter checks:
The review title
The review body
Answers to custom form questions
Judge.me compares this content with:
The standard profanity blocklist
Any custom words or phrases you add manually
Any custom words or phrases you upload
If Judge.me finds a blocked word or phrase, the review is handled based on the profanity filter option you selected.
If you update your blocklist, the profanity filter only checks reviews at the time they are submitted.
Adding a new word or phrase to your blocklist does not rescan existing reviews. Reviews that were already submitted or published will not be automatically censored, hidden, or unpublished.
To remove an existing review that contains a newly blocked word or phrase, manually hide or unpublish the review from your Reviews dashboard.
Removing a word or phrase from your blocklist affects both future and previously censored reviews. The removed word or phrase will show uncensored the next time the widget updates.
Adding a word or phrase to your blocklist does not rescan reviews that were submitted before profanity filter was enabled. However, if a review was already flagged by the profanity filter, the newly added word or phrase will also be censored the next time the widget updates.
