Learn how to install, customize, and manage the Testimonials Carousel widget

The Testimonials Carousel allows you to showcase customer text reviews in an elegant, quote-style carousel.

By placing the Testimonials Carousel strategically across your store, you can build trust and highlight authentic customer feedback right where it matters most. Whether on your homepage, product, or collection pages, each widget is fully customizable to match your brand.

How it looks

The Testimonials Carousel typically includes these elements by default:

  • The "Customers are saying" header

  • The average star rating of the selected reviews

  • One review at a time, styled as a card. Each review card usually includes:

    • A large quote mark icon

    • The review text

    • Star rating

    • Reviewer name (with verified badge if applicable)

    • Linked product name

  • Navigation arrows to browse through multiple reviews

How it works

You can use the Testimonials Carousel widget to:

  • Show testimonials across your store — Add the Testimonials Carousel to your homepage, product pages, or collection pages to build trust wherever customers browse.

  • Highlight seasonal or campaign-specific reviews — Display reviews for selected products to support promotions or new launches.

  • Show your best reviews with filters — Feature 5-star or featured reviews on high-impact pages to boost conversions.

  • Match your store’s branding — Customize fonts, colors, quote styles, and layouts. You can even use different designs on different pages for a consistent look and feel.

Considerations

  • On older iPhone models running iOS 16 or below (e.g., iPhone 7, iOS 14–16), the stylings for the Testimonials Carousel may not be applied correctly. In these cases, all reviews are rendered in a stacked list format instead of a sliding carousel.

Add the Testimonials Carousel

Step 1: Enable Judge.me app embed

To enable Judge.me app embed:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit theme.

  4. In the left menu, click the App embeds icon (the third icon).

  5. Enable Judge.me app embed.

  6. Click Save on the top right.

Step 2: Add the Testimonials Carousel block

To install the Testimonials Carousel in Shopify theme editor:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit theme.

  4. At the top of the theme editor, open the template dropdown in the middle.

  5. Select a template where you want to show the Testimonials Carousel.

  6. On the left panel, inside Template, click (+) Add section.

  7. Open the Apps tab.

  8. Select the Testimonials Carousel block.

  9. (Optional) Hover over the block, hold the 6-dot icon (⋮⋮), and drag it up or down to change its position.

  10. Click Save on the top right.

You can add the Testimonials Carousel block on different pages or different Testimonials Carousel blocks on one page, each can be uniquely styled and configured to display different reviews to serve your specific purposes.

Customize the Testimonials Carousel with built-in settings

To access all settings for the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit theme.

  4. At the top of the theme editor, open the template dropdown in the middle.

  5. Select the template where you added the Testimonials Carousel.

  6. On the left panel, inside Template, find the Testimonials Carousel block you added.

  7. Click the block to open its settings.

Once opened, you can customize the review selection, layout, styling, behavior, and header of that specific Testimonials Carousel block.

Sample reviews (Preview only)

If you haven’t collected any reviews yet, you can still enable sample reviews to see how the Testimonials Carousel looks in the preview of your Shopify Theme Editor. This setting does not affect the live storefront.

To show sample reviews for the Testimonials Carousel in your Shopify Theme Editor:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the REVIEWS SELECTION section at the top, enable "Show sample reviews (Preview only)".

  3. Click Save on the top right.

Reviews selection

To choose which types of reviews to show in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the REVIEWS SELECTION section at the top, open the Reviews selection dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • "All" – shows all published reviews.

    • "Product reviews" – shows only reviews linked to products.

    • "Store reviews" – shows only store-level (sitewide) reviews.

    • "Current product" – shows reviews for the product currently being viewed.

    • "Current collection" – shows reviews for products within the collection currently being viewed.

    • "Featured" – shows only reviews you marked as Featured.

    • "Custom products" – lets you manually select which products the carousel should pull reviews from.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Reviews selection: Featured

If you select "Featured", to feature a review to show in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Reviews.

  2. Find the review you want to feature.

  3. Click the heart icon (♡) on the left of that review.

These featured reviews also appear in the Reviews Carousel, Pop-up Reviews Widget, and Cards Carousel if they are set to show only featured reviews.

Reviews selection: Custom products

If you select "Custom products", to select the specific products you want the Testimonials Carousel to display reviews from:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the REVIEWS SELECTION section at the top, next to Select products (when “Reviews Selection”: Custom products), click Select.

  3. Click the checkboxes next to the products you want to pull reviews from. You can select up to 10 products.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Star rating

To choose the ratings you want to show in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the REVIEWS SELECTION section at the top, open the Star rating dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • "All" – shows reviews of all ratings

    • "5-star only" – shows only 5-star reviews

    • "4 to 5-star only" – shows only 4-star and 5-star reviews

    • "3 to 5-star only" – shows only 3, 4, and 5-star reviews

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Maximum review number

To set the maximum number of reviews you want to show in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the REVIEWS SELECTION section at the top, adjust the Maximum review number slider (or enter a number from 1-30).

  3. Click Save on the top right.

2. Layout

Quote mark size

To control how large the quote mark icon appear in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Quote mark size dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Small, Medium, Large, Extra large, or Hidden.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Product name text size

To change the font size of the product name under each review in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Product name text size dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Small, Medium, Large, Extra large, or Hidden.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Verified reviewer

To choose how verified reviewers are displayed in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, for Verified reviewer, select Badge or Text .

  3. Click Save on the top right.

Card height

To change how tall each review card appears in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Card height dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Compact, Medium, Tall, or Extra tall. Use a taller card height to prevent longer reviews from being cut off.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Text size

To control the font size of the review text in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Text size dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Extra small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra large, or Huge.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Stars size

To adjust the size of the star ratings displayed on each review in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Stars size dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Small, Medium, Large, or Hidden.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Arrows position

To choose where the navigation arrows appear in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, open the Arrows position dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Sides, Bottom, or Hidden.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Maximum width

To limit how wide the Testimonials Carousel appears on the page:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the LAYOUT section, adjust Maximum width using the slider or by entering a pixel value (600 to 1600px).

  3. Click Save on the top right.

3. Styling

Corner styling

To choose the corner style for each review card in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the STYLING section, open the Corner styling dropdown.

  3. Select one of the following options: Sharp, Soft, Rounded.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Quote marks

To choose the design style of the quote marks in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the STYLING section, open the Quote marks dropdown.

  3. Select one of the available styles: Serif, Typewritten, Basic, Bold, Cartoon, or Sans serif.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Colors

To customize the colors used in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the STYLING section, adjust any of the color options below:

    • "Card color – Changes the background color of each review card.

    • "Stars and quote marks color" – Sets the color for both the star ratings and the quote mark icons.

    • "Text color" – Controls the color of all review text inside the cards.

    • "Arrows color" – Changes the color of the navigation arrows.

  3. Click Save on the top right.

Border

To add a border around each review card:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the STYLING section, enable "Show border".

  3. Click Save on the top right.

Drop shadow

To add a drop shadow for extra depth behind each review card:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. In the STYLING section, enable "Show drop shadow".

  3. Click Save on the top right.

4. Transition speed

To customize the moving speed between each review in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. Scroll down to the BEHAVIOR section.

  3. Adjust the Maximum review number slider (0-60 seconds).

  4. Click Save on the top right.

5. Header

To adjust the "Customers are saying" header text in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. Scroll down to the HEADER section at the bottom.

  3. In the Header text field, edit the default "Customers are saying" texts.

  4. Click Save on the top right.

To disable the average rating under the header in the Testimonials Carousel:

  1. Go to the Testimonials Carousel settings.

  2. Scroll down to the HEADER section at the bottom.

  3. Disable "Average rating text".

  4. Click Save on the top right.

Troubleshoot

I've added the Testimonials Carousel but only see its header

If you've added the Testimonials Carousel block in your Shopify theme editor but you only see the "Customers are saying" header, the numeric rating, the review count, and the Verified badge, and don't see any reviews, it’s usually because the Judge.me app embed is not enabled in your theme.

When the app embed is disabled, the Testimonials Carousel can’t fully load the reviews.

To fix this, make sure to enable the Judge.me app embed in your theme.

"Widget (deprecated)" block

If you see the Widget (deprecated) block in your Shopify Theme Editor, this is the old, discontinued version of the Testimonials Carousel block. It is no longer supported and may not behave as expected.

To ensure full compatibility and access to all current settings, please remove the Widget (deprecated) block and add the new Testimonials Carousel block instead. The new block includes updated layout, styling, and review selection options that the deprecated widget does not support.
