Using multi-language widgets to match your store languages

Let your buyers see Judge.me widgets in their preferred language with fully customizable translations.

Updated yesterday

Available on the Free plan

Judge.me detects the language buyers use on your store and updates your widget text accordingly. You can personalize widget text in every published language, ensuring consistency and brand voice across all markets.

How it works

Once you enable multi-language widgets, we display all widget texts (such as titles, buttons, review forms, and on-site labels) based on the current store language selected by your customers. For example:

  • When a customer switches your store to French, Judge.me widget texts will appear in French.

  • When they switch back to another language, the widget texts update accordingly.

Considerations

  • While we supports Norwegian (Bokmål) for widget language, it is only available under the Norwegian (NO) locale in Shopify — not the Norwegian (Bokmål) (NB) locale. This means:

    • If a customer selects Norwegian (NO) as their storefront language:
Judge.me widgets will be translated into Norwegian (Bokmål).

    • If a customer selects Norwegian (Bokmål) (NB) as their storefront language:
Judge.me widgets will not be translated. They will appear in the default widget and email language instead.

  • If you’re using Shopify’s Translate & Adapt app, make sure to exclude Judge.me metafields from being translated.

Enable multi-language widgets

Step 1: Publish a language in Shopify

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Languages.

  2. Click Add a language and choose from the list.

  3. Use a translation app (like Shopify Translate & Adapt or Weglot) to translate your store content.

  4. Click the three-dot icon next to each language and select Publish.

Step 2: Enable multi-language widgets in Judge.me

To enable multi-language widgets in Judge.me:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Language.

  2. In the Language section at the top, open the Widget and notification emails language dropdown.

  3. Select a language that matches your default published language in Shopify.

  4. Scroll down to the Widgets and translations section.

  5. Click the checkbox next to Enable multi-language widgets.

  6. Click Save.

After saving, you’ll see a list of languages into which your widgets will be automatically translated, based on your Shopify settings.

If a language doesn’t appear after you've enable the setting, click Refresh list or wait up to 24 hours.
