Customizing the Reviews Carousel

Showcase your top reviews in a dynamic, eye-catching carousel

The Reviews Carousel helps you showcase your top reviews in a dynamic, eye-catching carousel. By placing the carousel on your homepage, you can boost trust, engage shoppers, and drive conversions effortlessly.

Note: Reviews synced from your other Shopify stores cannot be included in the Reviews Carousel. Only reviews collected directly from your store will be displayed.

Reviews Carousel settings

Our AI tool generates a concise summary of your reviews for display in the Reviews Carousel, helping buyers quickly understand key feedback without reading every review. This makes it easier for them to make informed purchasing decisions.

To enable the AI review summary in your Reviews Carousel, follow our step-by-step guide.

2. Choose reviews for your Carousel

To customize which reviews appear in your Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Review curation.

  3. Choose from these options and click Save.

Recent 5-star reviews

We will automatically show the 15 latest 5-star reviews

Recent reviews with pictures

We will automatically show the 15 latest reviews with images. If fewer than 15 are available, we will fill the slots with recent 5-star reviews.

Choose reviews manually

You can pick the specific reviews to highlight.

To choose reviews manually:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Manage Reviews > Reviews dashboard.

  • Click the "heart" icon on the left the reviews you want to feature.

If you select this option but don’t manually pick any reviews, the Reviews Carousel will appear empty. Be sure to highlight at least 1 review for it to display correctly on your store.

⚠️ Note: The Reviews Carousel can only show the same 15 reviews across all pages. To show reviews for a specific product, please use the Review Widget instead.

For other e-commerce platforms

  1. In the Reviews Carousel settings, navigate to Review Carousel Installation.

  2. Under How to feature reviews, select Manual or Automatic.

  1. If you choose Manual, go to Manage Reviews and click the heart icon to feature specific reviews.

3. Choose a theme for your Reviews Carousel

To change the Reviews Carousel theme:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. In Theme > Widget theme, choose from these following themes and click Save.

Gallery (available on the Awesome plan)

This theme is designed to highlight big, bold images, making it ideal for visual storytelling and product presentation.

Compact no pictures

Compact with pictures

Cards style

Vertical sliding

Focused view

For other e-commerce platforms

  1. In the Reviews Carousel settings, go to the Carousel Themes section.

  2. Choose the theme you prefer.

4. Adjust the slider arrows

To choose where to place the slider arrows in your Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Theme.

  3. Under Slider arrows, choose from these 2 options:

    • Show arrows on the sides of the carousel

    • Show arrows below the carousel

  4. Click Save.

To change color of the slider arrows:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Color.

  • Under Slider navigation arrows, adjust the color to your preference.

  • Click Save.

5. Show/Hide some elements from the Reviews Carousel

To choose which details you want to show in your Reviews Carousel:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Design.

  • Under Review details, enable some or all of the following options:

Enable to show the star rating of each review in the carousel

Show review title

Enable to show the title of the featured reviews in the carousel

Show review body

Enable to show the content of the featured reviews in the carousel

Show review date

Enable to show the date the review was submitted in the carousel

  • Under Reviewer information, enable some or all of the following options:

Enable to show the name of the reviewer in the carousel

Show product name and URL

Enable to show the name of the product in the carousel and link it to the product page

  • Click Save.

6. Show product or review pictures in the Reviews Carousel

To choose the type of pictures you want to show in your Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to the Design section.

  3. Under Pictures, select from these options and click Save.

To not show any pictures

Show product pictures

To show pictures of the products

Show review pictures if available

To show pictures from the reviews. If no review pictures are available, fall back to use pictures of the products.

You can also adjust the physical size of the images to make them less blurry:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Design > Pictures.

  3. Under Picture physical size, adjust the pixel to your preference.

  4. Click Save.

7. Adjust the number of reviews and how fast the carousel slides

By default, the Reviews Carousel will show 3 reviews on each slide.

To change how many reviews the carousel will show on each slide on desktop:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Design.

  3. Under Number of reviews on desktop, adjust the number to your preference.

  4. Click Save.

To change how fast the carousel slides:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Design.

  3. Under Autoslide interval, adjust the seconds to your preference.

  4. Hit Save.

8. Show longer reviews in the Reviews Carousel

By default, the carousel height is set to 250px, but you can increase its height to prevent longer reviews from being cut off.

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Design > Block height and adjust the pixel to your preference.

  3. Click Save.

9. Adjust the width of the Reviews Carousel

By default, the Reviews Carousel is set to 80% width of the block it is installed in.

To adjust this width:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Design > Page width and adjust the percentage to your preference.

  3. Click Save.

10. Remove the header of the Reviews Carousel

To remove the header ("Let customers speak for us") from the Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  2. Scroll down to Header and disable "Show the header".

  3. Click Save.

11. Link your carousel to a Reviews page

To link the Reviews Carousel to your Reviews page:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Header and enable "Link text to All Reviews Page if available".

  • Enter the link to your All Reviews page.

  • Click Save.

Customize the texts in the Reviews Carousel

To adjust the texts in your Reviews Carousel:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Click Customize text.

  • Adjust the texts to your likings and click Save.

Carousel theme-specific settings

Gallery theme

To change the border style of the Reviews Carousel on the Gallery theme:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Theme.

  • Under Border style, select either "Square corners" or "Round corners".

  • Click Save.

To show longer reviews in the Reviews Carousel on the Gallery theme:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Design.

  • Under Review length, adjust the number of lines to your preference (default to 5).

  • Click Save.

To show a Read more reviews button at the bottom of the carousel on Gallery theme:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Click Customize text.

  • In the Button card, enable "Show button at the bottom of the carousel".

  • Under Button text, adjust the button text (default to "Read more reviews").

  • Under Page URL, enter the link to your All Reviews page.

  • Click Save.

Cards theme

To change the star color of the carousel on Cards theme:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Color.

  • Under Full star color and Empty star color, adjust the color to your preference.

  • Click Save.

Vertical sliding

To change the Header and Review block color of the carousel on Vertical sliding theme:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to Color.

  • Under Header background and border, Header text, and Review block, adjust the color to your preference.

  • Click Save.

Customize the Reviews Carousel with JavaScript (Advanced)

To apply even more custom styling to your Reviews Carousel:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  • Find the theme you want to edit, click the 3-dot icon and select Edit code.

  • Go to the theme.liquid file.

  • At the bottom of that file, above the before ending </body> tag, add in the JavaScript code.

  • Hit Save.

Troubleshoot

Product images appear broken in the Reviews Carousel

Issue:

The product images in the Reviews Carousel show as missing or broken (typically shown as a small icon and placeholder).

Why it happens:

The product images might appear broken in the Reviews Carousel if you've recently updated the products and replaced or changed their images.

When product images are changed, the image URLs may be refreshed or temporarily unavailable, causing the carousel to attempt to load outdated or invalid links.

How to fix:

To refresh the image links in the Reviews Carousel:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Customize.

  • Scroll down to the Design section.

  • Under Pictures:

    • Select "Disabled" and click Save.

    • Then, select "Show product pictures" and click Save again.
