With the Review Widget, customers can leave reviews directly on your product pages using the in-store review form.
How it works
Once you've installed the Review Widget on your product page, here's how the web review collection flow works:
Customer submits a review:
The customer visits a product page on your store.
They click the Write a review button from the Review Widget.
A pop-up review form opens with fields for content and optional media.
After the review is submitted, it will be immediately published or hidden based on your moderation settings.
We validate the review:
If we detect a possible order match (the email in the review and the order must be an exact match), a confirmation email is sent to the customer to validate the review.
Once the customer confirms their review and we can successfully link it to an order, the review will be marked as verified.
If you want to avoid receiving web reviews (to reduce spam, fake reviews, or competitor attacks), you can enable web reviews restriction.
Considerations
Web reviews that are not confirmed by the reviewers won't be verified.
Who sees the Write a review button
If you have installed the Review Widget or Happy Customers Widget, your customers can leave a review directly on your store front by clicking the Write a review (or Write a store review) button on these widgets.
To control who can see the Write a review button on the Review Widget (or the Write a store review button on the Happy Customers Widget):
From your Judge.me admin, go to Setting > Collection flow.
Scroll down to the Review collection section at the bottom.
Open the Who can see a button to write reviews in widgets dropdown.
Select one of the following options:
Everyone (no restrictions)
Anyone visiting your store can see the Write a review button and submit a review through the Review Widget.
Customers who signed-in to their Customer Account in Shopify
Only customers who are logged into their Shopify customer account can see the Write a review button on the Review Widget.
Customers who receive the review request emails can still leave a review using the review link in the email.
Customers who have the QR codes or review links can still leave a review, as they are public by design.
No one
The Write a review button will be hidden from the Review Widget, so all customers (even if they have purchased) cannot start writing a review directly on the store.
For products that don’t have any reviews yet, the Review Widget may also be hidden if there’s no review content to display.
Customers who receive the review request emails can still leave a review using the review link in the email.
Customers who have the QR codes or review links can still leave a review, as they are public by design.
Click Save.
Web review confirmation email
When confirmation emails are sent
You can either send the review confirmation email before or after the review is submitted. Here's how they are different:
After the review is submitted:
We will send the review confirmation email after the customer has already submitted the review, if we detect a possible order match. This can happen when:
The reviewer used an email address that matches a previous order (from your store or any store using Judge.me).
The reviewer is logged into their Judge.me user profile.
The reviewer has previously verified reviews as a buyer on any store using Judge.me.
The confirmation email includes a unique link for the customer to validate their review.
When the customer clicks this link:
It confirms that they were the one who submitted the review.
They are directed to their Reviewer Profile, where they can view all reviews they've submitted.
If we can successfully match their review to a fulfilled order on your store, we will mark the review as verified.
If the customer doesn’t click the confirmation link, their review will not be marked as verified.
Before the review is submitted:
We will send the review confirmation email right after the customer has entered their email address.
The customer can click the Write a review link in this email to continue the review process.
Once the customer submits the review, if we can successfully match their review to an order on your store, we will mark the review as verified.
To control when the review confirmation email is sent:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Setting > Collection flow.
Scroll down to the Verification process for reviews from widgets section.
Open the When to confirm customer email to verify reviews dropdown.
Select one of the following options:
Don't verify – we won't send the review confirmation email.
After review is submitted.
Before review is submitted.
Click Save.
Important:
If the web review confirmation email is disabled, web reviews cannot be verified — they will remain unverified even if the reviewer is a real customer.
At the moment, it's not possible to resend the web review confirmation email.
