Reviews Carousel

Updated today

Available on the Free plan

The Reviews Carousel highlights up to 15 featured reviews in a swipable layout. You can place it on your homepage, landing pages, or anywhere you want to highlight social proof.

How it works

Once installed:

  • The Reviews Carousel automatically shows up to 15 of your most recent published 5-star reviews.

  • You can also select which 15 reviews to show in the Reviews Carousel.

Considerations

  • The Reviews Carousel shows the same 15 reviews across all pages. It cannot show reviews based on which products the customer is looking at. To show reviews for each specific product, please use the Review Widget instead.

  • The Reviews Carousel only shows reviews collected directly from your store. It cannot show reviews synced from your other Shopify stores.

Add the Reviews Carousel

Step 1: Enable Judge.me app embed

To enable Judge.me app embed:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click Edit theme.

  3. In the left menu, click the App embeds icon (the third icon).

  4. Enable Judge.me app embed.

  5. Click Save on the top right.

Step 2: Add the Reviews Carousel block

To add the Reviews Carousel block in your Shopify theme editor:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click Edit theme.

  3. At the top of the theme editor, open the template dropdown in the middle.

  4. Select a template where you want to show the Reviews Carousel.

  5. On the left panel, inside Template, click (+) Add section.

  6. Open the Apps tab.

  7. Select the Reviews Carousel - Legacy block.

  8. (Optional) Hover over the block, hold the 6-dot icon (⋮⋮), and drag it up or down to change its position.

  9. Click Save on the top right.

Choose which reviews appear in the Reviews Carousel

By default, the Review Carousel displays up to 15 of your most recent published 5-star reviews. But you can choose which type of reviews or which exact 15 reviews to show in the carousel.

To control which reviews appear in the Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Widgets > Reviews Carousel (Classic).

  2. Open the Review curation section.

  3. For Set how reviews show in the Carousel, select one of the following options:

    • "Recent 5-star reviews" to automatically displays the 15 most recent published 5-star reviews.

    • "Recent reviews with pictures" to automatically displays the 15 most recent published 5-star reviews that include photos. If there are fewer than 15, the rest will be filled with recent 5-star reviews.

    • "Choose reviews manually" to manually choose which 15 reviews to highlight in the Reviews Carousel.

  4. Click Save.

If you select "Choose reviews manually", to feature the review in the Reviews Carousel:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Reviews.

  2. Find the review you want to feature.

  3. Click the heart icon () on its left.

The Review Carousel will only appear if there are reviews to show. If you've installed the Reviews Carousel but your store doesn’t have any 5-star reviews yet, or if you’ve selected “Choose reviews manually” but haven’t featured any reviews, the Carousel will remain hidden on your storefront.

Troubleshoot

I've added the Reviews Carousel but only see its header

If you've added the Reviews Carousel block in your Shopify theme editor but you only see the Let customers speak for us header and the from {{ n }} reviews text, and don't see any reviews, it’s usually because the Judge.me app embed is not enabled in your theme.

When the app embed is disabled, the Reviews Carousel can’t fully load the reviews.

To fix this, make sure to enable the Judge.me app embed in your theme.

I don't see the Reviews Carousel block in the Apps tab

After clicking (+) Add section, if you don't see any blocks inside the Apps tab of your Shopify theme editor, but see the "You don't have any apps installed. Find apps built for themes on the Shopify app store" text, you're using a Vintage theme.

Follow the steps in the Adding Judge.me widgets in Vintage themes article to confirm your theme version and install the Reviews Carousel manually using Liquid code instead.

My Reviews Carousel is showing the same reviews

If your Reviews Carousel appears to show duplicated reviews, it's usually because your Set how reviews show in the Carousel setting is set to "Recent 5-star reviews" or "Recent reviews with pictures".

With these options, the Reviews Carousel automatically pulls reviews that match the criteria. If the same reviews are duplicated across multiple products, or repeated multiple times within a single product—the Reviews Carousel may end up repeating them.

If those reviews are intentionally duplicated and you want full control over what appears, switch Set how reviews show in the Carousel to "Choose reviews manually". You can then manually select up to 15 specific reviews to feature in the Reviews Carousel.
