Build shopper confidence by clearly displaying transparency badges showing how each review was collected and explaining your store’s review collection process. These features help you comply with global regulations, increase transparency, and create a trustworthy shopping experience.

Why review transparency matters

Today’s shoppers are more discerning than ever. They actively look for signs that reviews are authentic, and regulators are doing the same.

With Judge.me, you can display review transparency badges and a review collection policy, making it easy to:

  • Follow FTC guidelines and other consumer protection laws on review transparency.

  • Build credibility by showing how each review was collected.

  • Earn trust and increase conversions by offering a transparent, honest review experience.

By enabling these tools, you're showing customers that your reviews are real, fairly collected, and worth trusting.

Transparency badges

To show or hide review transparency badges in your Review Widget:

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Widgets.

  • Find the Review Widget card and click Customize.

  • Scroll down to the Transparency section and click Transparency settings.

  • There you can adjust the following options:

1. Review transparency badges

To show the transparency badges in your Review Widget:

  • In the Review transparency badges section:

    • Enable "Show all (Recommended)" to display all transparency badges.

    • Or enable only the badges you want to display from the following:

      • "Review collected via store invitation (Email, SMS, push notification)": shows the badge on reviews collected through our review requests.

      • "Review from another provider (Imported reviews)": shows the Review collected from another provider badge on imported reviews.

      • "Reviews collected from a store visitor (Web reviews)": shows the badge on web reviews.

      • "Collected by a verified review provider (Etsy, Google, Shop app)": shows the badge on reviews synced from Etsy, Google Business Profile, or Shop App.

      • "Review earned a reward for a future purchase (Incentivized review with a Judge.me coupon)": shows the Review earned a reward for future purchase badge on reviews that received a coupon reward.

  • Click Save.

2. Review collection policy

To show a How reviews are collected? link in your Review Widget:

  • Scroll down to the Review collection policy section.

  • Enable "Show review collection policy information".

  • Click Save.

This How reviews are collected? link will go to our Review Authenticity page, which explains:

  • How reviews are collected (email, SMS, onsite forms).

  • How reviews are verified as coming from real customers.

  • How reviews are grouped (e.g., via product or store syndication).

  • How reviews are shared across platforms (e.g., Google Shopping).

Mark a review as incentivized

If you're running a rewards campaign, such as offering coupons through Judge.me, you can (and should) mark relevant reviews as incentivized. This improves transparency and aligns with trust guidelines across e-commerce platforms.

If you enable the Review earned a reward for future purchase badge in the Review Widget:

  • Reviews that are qualified for a coupon code will be automatically marked as incentivized and will show the above badge.

  • To manually mark a review as incentivized:

    • From your Judge.me admin, go to Reviews.

    • In the Reviews dashboard, find the review you want to mark as incentivized.

    • Click the 3-dot icon (...) on the right of the review and select Mark review as incentivized.
