QR codes are ideal for:

  • Parcel inserts: Include a QR code on packaging inserts or shipping labels so customers can scan right after unboxing.

  • In-store displays: Place printed QR codes near checkout counters or fitting rooms so customers can review their in-store experience while it's fresh.

  • Handouts: Provide business cards or flyers with a QR code during events, trade shows, or pop-up markets to encourage follow-up reviews.

Types of QR codes and how they work

QR code for a specific product (redirects to Judge.me page)

Here's how a product review collection QR code that redirects to Judge.me page works:

  1. You share the QR code for a specific product with your customer.

  2. The customer scans the QR code and is redirected to a Judge.me hosted page for that product, which includes 2 screens:

    • The review screen:

      • The form first asks the customer to select a star rating and write a title and review content for the product. The "Please choose your rating" error will be shown by default until a rating is selected.

      • The form will also collect the customer's email address and display name. They can choose how their name will appear (John Smith, John S, John, J.S., Anonymous).

      • Once done, they can click Submit Review ➔ to move to the next screen.

    • The Media upload screen: The form then encourages the customer to upload photos, videos, or paste a YouTube URL to support the review. Once done, the customer can click Submit Review ➔ to complete the process.

  3. Once submitted, the review will appear in your Reviews Dashboard with the source marked as "QR codes".

  4. We then use the same validation process as web reviews to validate the review.

QR code for all products

Here's how an all products page QR code works:

  1. You share the QR code with your customer.

  2. The customer scans the QR code and is redirected to a Judge.me hosted page, which includes 3 screens:

    • The product selection screen: The form first allows the customer to search and select which product they want to review. Once a product is selected, they will see a Write a review ➔ button to move to the next screen.

QR code for the store

Here's how a store review QR code works:

  1. You share the QR code with your customer.

  2. The customer scans the QR code and is redirected to a Judge.me hosted page for your store, which includes 2 screens:

    • The review screen:

      • The form first asks the customer to select a star rating and write a title and review content for the product. The "Please choose your rating" error will be shown by default until a rating is selected.

Considerations

  • QR codes are public by design. That means anyone who scans the QR code can submit a review, even if they haven’t purchased the product. Web review restriction does not apply to QR codes.

  • It's not possible to customize the texts in the QR code landing pages, but you can adjust the form styling and submission flow as part of the Write a review form.
