At Judge.me, authenticity is everything. Reviews are powerful because they reflect genuine customer experiences. That said, there may be times when a review contains a typo, missing photo, or personal information that needs updating.

This article explains how to make small edits—such as fixing typos or adding images/videos—while preserving the integrity of the original review.

Considerations

To comply with Shopify's guidelines and and maintain the trustworthiness of reviews, please take the following into consideration:

Edit limits

  • Body edits are limited to 30 characters of difference, accounting for both added and removed characters.

  • Title edits have no character limit

  • For reviews collected through Judge.me, you cannot edit:

  • For imported reviews:

    • The only field you cannot edit is the rating.

  • Synced reviews from the following platforms cannot be edited at all:

If a review cannot be edited, the Edit option will not be available.

Reviewer notification

  • The reviewer is notified via email when you edit a collected review

  • This does not apply to imported reviews

Verification status

  • Editing a review does not affect its verification status.

  • Verification is based on order data and is independent of review content.

  • If a reviewer reverts an edit:

    • The review content (title and body) is restored to its original version.

    • Any photos or videos added by the merchant remain.

    • This does not change the review's verification status.

How it works

To correct typos or grammatical errors in the review, clarify wording for better understanding, or to add photos or videos to an existing review, you can edit the review directly in your Reviews dashboard.

Once you edit a review:

  1. Edit is applied immediately: Your changes (such as fixing typos or adding media) are applied right away, but might take a few minutes to be reflect on your live pages.

  2. Reviewer is notified: The original reviewer receives an automatic email showing:

    • The original review

    • The edited version

    • A link to revert the changes

  3. Reviewer can revert the edit

    • If the reviewer clicks the revert link, the review returns to its original content.

    • If they take no action, the edited version remains published.
