Translating Judge.me widgets, emails and settings

Updated over a week ago

Make your store's review experience consistent in every language. Learn how to translate Judge.me widgets and emails so your customers always see content in their preferred language.

Display widgets and send emails in your store's default language

If your primary customer base speaks a specific language, setting a default language ensures a more seamless and localized experience for your widgets and emails.

  1. From your Judge.me admin dashboard, go to General Settings > Account.

  2. In the Language section, select your preferred default language from the dropdown in Widget and notification emails language.

  3. Click Save.

When you change your default language, the update is applied immediately to all widget text and notification emails (e.g., reply notifications, coupon emails).

For review request emails, changing the default language only affects new templates created after the change. Existing templates remain in their original language, but you can manually translate them in the email editor:

  1. Go to Collect Reviews > Email Templates.

  2. Click Edit on the template you want to update.

  3. Under Settings > General, click Translate email to apply Judge.me’s default translation.

🟩 Example
If your default language is German, all Judge.me widget text and notification emails will appear in German —unless you’ve added and translated Spanish and French, which will then display based on your customer’s chosen language.

Display Judge.me widgets in multiple languages

If your store has multiple published languages in Shopify, Judge.me automatically detects your customer’s selected language and shows all widget text in that language.

If you're on the Awesome plan, you can fully customize the text in each of your published Shopify languages. These custom translations will override the Judge.me defaults. 👉 Read our guide on customizing Judge.me widgets in multiple languages
