Sending your emails in multiple languages

Make it easy for customers to leave reviews by sending emails in the language they understand best.

With Judge.me, you can send multilingual review request emails to match your customers’ browsing language. This improves readability, increases response rates, and helps you gather more high-quality reviews across regions.


How multilingual emails work

When you enable multi-language emails, we automatically detect your customers' store language and send the appropriate version of the email.

For example, if a customer places an order through the French version of your store, they will receive the French version of your emails once the order is fulfilled.


Before you begin

To send Judge.me emails in multiple languages, you must first publish those languages in your Shopify store.

To publish languages in Shopify:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Languages.

  2. Click Add language, choose a language from the list, and click Add.

  3. Use a translation app (like Shopify Translate & Adapt or Weglot) to translate your store content.

  4. Click the 3-dot icon (...) next to each language and select Publish.


Steps to set up multiple language emails

Step 1: Enable multi-language emails

To enable multilingual emails:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to General Settings > Account.

  2. Scroll down to the Multi-language and translations section, click Multi-language and translations.

  3. In the Emails section, enable "Enable multi-language emails".

  4. Click Save.

To enable multi-language emails in Judge.me:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Language.

  2. Scroll down to the Emails section and check the box Enable multi-language emails.

  3. Click Save to apply your changes.


Step 2: Create a review request template for each language

To support multiple languages, you’ll need to set up:

  • An original (default) template: This is your main template and will be used in the following cases:

    • If no translated version exists for the customer's language

    • If the customer’s language cannot be detected

  • 1 template for each additional language you want to support

To create the original template:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. In the Review collection emails section, click the Edit button next to Review requests and reminders.

  3. Click Create template to add a new template (or Edit to edit an existing one).

  4. On the right menu, scroll down to the Advanced section.

  5. In the Send to customers using this language dropdown, make sure it's set to "Any Language".

  6. Customize the text to suit your brand and tone.

  7. Click Save, then click Set as active.

To create templates for the additional languages:

  1. Duplicate the original template:

    • From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

    • In the Review collection emails section, click the Edit button next to Review requests and reminders.

    • Locate the original template you just created, click the dropdown icon, and select Duplicate.

  2. Change the language of the duplicated template:

    • Click Edit next to the template you just duplicated.

    • On the right menu, scroll down to the Advanced section.

    • In the Send to customers using this language dropdown, select the language for this template (e.g., German).

    • In the next popup:

      • Click Overwrite email template to automatically translate and overwrite the existing email template.

      • Click Cancel if you want to set the language for the template but don't want to automatically translate it.

  3. Customize the text to suit your brand and tone.

  4. Click Save, then click Set as active.

  5. Repeat this process for each language you’ve published in Shopify.

To create the original template:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. In the Review collection emails section, click the Edit button next to the Review request and reminder.

  3. Click Create template to create a new template (or Edit to edit an existing one).

  4. In the right-hand menu, scroll to the Advanced section.

  5. Under Send to customers using this language, select the target language (e.g., German).

  6. In the next pop-up:

    • Click Overwrite email template to automatically translate and overwrite the existing email template.

    • Click Cancel if you want to set the language for the template but don't want to automatically translate it.

  7. Click Set as Active for the templates you’ve created to ensure it is used.

To create templates for the additional languages:

Step 1: Duplicate the original template

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. In the Review collection emails section, click Edit next to Review requests and reminders.

  3. Find the original template you just created.

  4. Click the dropdown icon next to the template and select Duplicate.

Step 2: Set the language for the duplicated template

  1. Click Edit next to the duplicated template.

  2. In the right-hand menu, scroll to the Advanced section.

  3. Under Send to customers using this language, select the target language (e.g., German).

  4. In the next popup:

    • Click Overwrite email template to auto-translate the content.

    • Or click Cancel if you prefer to keep the original text and translate manually

  5. Update the text to match your brand voice and tone.

  6. Click Save, then click Set as active.

  7. Repeat these steps for each language you’ve published in Shopify.


Step 3: Customize the translations in other emails (optional)

For all other Judge.me emails (e.g., reminders, coupons, replies), you don’t need to create separate templates for each language.

Instead, we provide default translations for these emails based on the customer’s order language. You only need to review and customize the translations if you'd like.


For coupon emails

To customize your coupon email in different languages:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. In the Discounts and rewards section, click the Edit button next to Coupon discount email.

  3. Choose a language from the Currently editing in drop-down.

  4. Edit the translated version or replace it with your custom text.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Repeat for other languages as needed.

To customize your coupon emails in different languages:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the main Discounts and rewards section.

  3. Click the Edit button next to the Coupon discount email.

  4. Use the Currently editing in drop-down to choose the language you want to edit.

  5. Edit the translated version or replace it with your custom text.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Repeat these steps for any other languages you want to customize.



For customer reward email (Referral)

To customize your referral email in different languages:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. In the Discounts and rewards section, click the Edit button next to Referral customer reward email.

  3. Choose a language from the Currently editing in drop-down.

  4. Edit the translated version or replace it with your custom text.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Repeat for other languages.

To customize your referral email in different languages:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the main Discounts and rewards section.

  3. Click the Edit button next to the Referral customer reward email.

  4. Use the Currently editing in drop-down to select the language you want to customize.

  5. Edit the default translation or replace it with your own custom text.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Repeat these steps for any other languages you want to customize.



For other notification emails

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. In the Post-review notifications section, click the Edit button next to the email you want to edit.

    • Review confirmation

    • Reply notification

    • Media reminder

    • Q&A notification

  3. Use the Currently editing in drop-down to select your desired language.

  4. A default translation will appear. Make changes as needed.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Repeat for each language you want to customize.

To customize post-review notification emails in different languages:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the Post-review notifications section.

  3. Click the Edit button next to the email you want to edit:

    • Review confirmation

    • Reply notification

    • Media reminder

    • Q&A notification

  4. Use the Currently editing in drop-down to select your desired language.

  5. A default translation will appear. Make any changes needed to reflect your brand’s tone and messaging.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Repeat these steps for each language you want to customize.
