How to add the Review Widget, Star Rating Badge, Reviews Carousel and other widgets using Shopify theme editor

With Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes, you can easily add and customize Judge.me widgets through the Shopify theme editor—no coding required. This guide walks you through the process step by step.

Step 1: Enable Judge.me app embed

Turning on the app embed in Shopify ensures all Judge.me widgets, like the Review Widget and Star Rating Badge, work properly. When installing Judge.me from Shopify, these widgets may have been added automatically. If they weren’t, follow these steps to add them:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click Customize.

  3. Navigate to App embeds and enable Judge.me.

  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Add the Star Ratings and Review Widget

After turning on the app embed, go back to Sections. From the top drop-down menu, select Products > Default product. If you use custom product templates, you’ll need to add widgets to each one.

Add the Star Ratings

  1. Hover over the section where you want to place the widget and click Add block.

  2. Select Star Ratings. Star Ratings only appear when a product has at least one review.

  3. Drag the block to adjust its position as needed.

  4. Click Save.

You can further personalize the Star Ratings in the customization settings.

Add the Review Widget

  1. Click Add section > Apps > Review Widget.

  2. Drag the block to adjust its position.

  3. Click Save.

Step 3: Add other widgets (optional)

Enhance your store by adding additional Judge.me widgets. Each widget helps improve store performance and customer engagement.

Star Ratings on collections

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Star Rating Badge > Install.

  3. On the Add the Star Rating Badge on collection page, click Install.

  4. The Star Rating will be automatically added to your collection pages.

Reviews Carousel

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Reviews Carousel > Install.

  3. The Reviews Carousel will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, add it via the Shopify theme editor:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Home page.

  2. Click Add section and select Reviews Carousel.

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.

Judge.me Medals

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Judge.me Medals > Install.

  3. The Medals will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, add it via the Shopify theme editor:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Home page.

  2. Click Add section and select Section for Medals.

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.

Verified Reviews Counter

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Verified Review Counter > Install.

  3. The Verified Reviews Counter will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, you can go to the Shopify theme editor to add the widget:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Home page.

  2. Click Add section and select Verified Reviews Badge (you can also add this badge as a block in the Footer).

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.

Note: The Verified Reviews Counter is available for stores with more than 20 verified reviews

All Reviews Counter

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > All Reviews Counter > Install.

  3. The All Reviews Counter will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, add it via the Shopify theme editor:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Home page.

  2. Click Add section and select Review Text (you can also add this badge as a block in the Footer).

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.

UGC Media Grid

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > UGC Media Grid > Install.

  3. The UGC Media Grid will be added automatically (you need at least one published post for it to appear).

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, add it via the Shopify theme editor:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Home page.

  2. Click Add section and select UGC Media Grid.

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.

Pop-up Reviews

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Pop-up Reviews > Install.

  3. The Pop-up Reviews will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, add it via the Shopify theme editor:

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Homepage.

  2. Select App embeds from the left sidebar.

  3. Toggle the bar to enable the Pop-up Widget.

  4. Click Save.

Review Snippet Widget

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Widgets > Review Snippet Widget > Install.

  3. The Review Snippet Widget will be added automatically.

  4. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  5. Click Save.

  1. From the drop-down menu at the top, select Products > Default product.

  2. Hover your cursor over the section where you want to place a widget until Add block appears, then select Review Snippet Widget.

  3. Drag the block up or down to change its position.

  4. Click Save.
