Reinstalling Judge.me widgets when changing your theme

Updated over a week ago

When changing your Shopify theme, previously installed widgets and widget customizations are not automatically transferred to the new theme. This article helps you re-add the widgets after switching themes.

Step 1: Check which widgets you had in the old theme

If you're unsure which Judge.me widgets were previously installed, you can check your old theme to find out:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  • Find your previous theme and click Customize.

  • From the dropdown menu at the top, select Home page.

    • Look for sections labeled Apps on the left sidebar.

    • Expand each Apps block to see the widget name. Judge.me blocks will show a green Judge.me logo.

    • Note down any Judge.me widgets you see β€” these are the ones you'll want to reinstall in your new theme.

  • Then, from the dropdown menu at the top, select Products > Default product and repeat the steps above to check for any product page widgets.

Step 2: Reinstall the widgets in the new theme

Not sure what you had before?
Most stores use the Star Rating Badge and the Review Widget by default. We recommend reinstalling both to restore your core review functionality.

Once you’ve identified which widgets were installed in your previous theme, follow the steps below to reinstall them.
