Integrating with Smile to offer points for reviews

Judge.me's integration with Smile: Loyalty & Rewards allows you to reward your customers with Smile points for submitting a review.

Considerations

  • Judge.me x Smile integration is available on Smile's paid plans.

  • When Smile.io is connected and active as your reward integration, Judge.me handles rewards exclusively through Smile — Judge.me's own coupon system is disabled. It's one or the other, never both.

  • You can award different point values for text, photo, and video reviews. Set up a separate earning rule in Smile for each review type.

  • The "Coupon sent for this review" field in the Review Details modal only tracks Judge.me's own coupons. Since Smile disables Judge.me's coupon system, this field will always show "This review didn't qualify for a coupon" — even if Smile successfully awarded points. To check whether a customer received Smile points for a review, go to your Smile admin → Activity log.

  • The coupon block in the smart review request email template is for Judge.me's own coupon system only. When Smile is your active reward integration, this block is hidden. If you'd like to mention Smile rewards (e.g. "earn points for your review") in your review request emails, you can add that text manually using the email template editor.

Set up the integration with Smile

Step 1: Enable Judge.me in Smile

  1. From your Smile admin, go to Integrations

  2. Find Judge.me and click Connect.

Step 2: Enable Smile in Judge.me

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Integrations > Smile.io.

  2. Click Connect.

Step 3: Flexible review rewards

Judge.me sends Smile three separate activity types based on what the reviewer submits:

  • Write a Product Review: a review with no photo or video

  • Leave a Photo Review: a review that includes at least one photo (no video)

  • Leave a Video Review: a review that includes a video

This lets you reward different point values depending on the type of review. For example, you might award 50 points for a text review, 100 for a photo review, and 150 for a video review.

To set up flexible review reward:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Integrations > Smile.io.

  2. Enable Flexible review rewards.

  3. Click Save.

Step 4: Set up the earning rules in Smile

To set up the earning rules:

  1. From your Smile admin, go to Program > Points.

  2. Click Add ways to earn.

  3. In the apps section, you'll see three Judge.me activity types. Click each one to set it up:

    • Write a Product Review

    • Leave a Photo Review

    • Leave a Video Review

  4. For each activity type, set the Earning value to the number of points you want to award.

  5. Make any customized changes to the earning action.

  6. Click Create.

  7. Repeat for the other activity types.

You can enable all three or only the ones you want. For example, if you only want to reward photo and video reviews, just set up those two.

Once the rules are created, customers can begin earning points for leaving reviews according to the reward conditions you have set in Judge.me.
