Rewarding customers with coupons encourages more reviews and increases repeat purchases. With Judge.me, you can automatically generate and send coupons to customers who leave a review via email or Shopify Customer Accounts - helping boost engagement and loyalty.
Steps to set up your coupons
Step 1: Enable coupon
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
In the Coupons section, select "Generate and send coupons automatically".
Click Save.
Step 2: Customize your coupons
For coupons, you can choose between these two options:
Auto-generated codes by Judge.me: We’ll automatically create unique coupon codes for each customer.
External coupon codes: You can use your own codes, either:
A static code (same for everyone), or
A list of dynamic codes (one-time use, uploaded by you).
In this step, we'll cover the settings for coupon codes that are generated by Judge.me.
1. Edit your coupon details
To adjust the details of your coupon:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Coupon details section.
Enter a Campaign description (optional). This can then be used in your review request template via this variable

.Under Coupon code, enter a prefix (optional, default to
THANKYOU
). We will automatically generate a unique coupon code with the prefix for each customer (e.g.,THANKYOU-ABC123
).Click Save.
2. Set the discount value
To set how much you want the discount value to be:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Discount value section.
Choose from the following options and click Save.

Select the discount type:
Enter the Discount value (e.g., 10% or $5). |

3. Set the reward condition
To control who can receive a coupon:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Reward Conditions section.
Choose from the following options and click Save.
Option | What it means |
Any reviewer | Anyone who leaves a review can receive a coupon |
Only verified buyers | The reviewer must have at least 1 order in the store to receive a coupon |
Only verified buyers of the product they reviewed | The reviewer must have purchased the specific product they are reviewing, and their review must be submitted using the same email address as the one used during checkout. |
Only reviewers who have received a review request | The reviewer must submit their review through a Judge.me review request email, push notification, or SMS |
4. Set requirements and eligibility of the coupon
To control how the coupon can be used:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Requirement and eligibility section.
Under Requirement, select from the following options and click Save:
Options | What it means |
No minimum requirement | The discount code can be used for any orders |
Minimum order value | The discount code can only be used for orders above a certain value |
Minimum quantity of items | The discount code can only be used for orders that have more than a certain number of items |
To control who can use the coupon:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Requirement and eligibility section.
Under Eligibility:
Enable "This coupon can only be used by the reviewer" to ensure that the discount code can only be used by the customer who submitted the review.
Enable "This coupon can only be used once by each customer" to prevent the same customer from redeeming the same discount code multiple times.
Choose from these following options and click Save:

5. Choose coupon combinations
Judge.me coupons are treated as Order discounts in Shopify. You can combine Judge.me coupon with Product discounts or Shipping discounts in Shopify.
To allow customers to use both a Judge.me coupon and a Shopify discount at the same time:
From your Shopify admin:
Go to Discounts.
Create a new discount or open an existing Product or Shipping discount that you want to combine.
Scroll down to the Combinations section.
Enable "Order discounts".
Click Save.
Then, from your Judge.me admin:
Go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Requirement and eligibility section.
Under Combinations, enable some or all of the following options:
Product discounts
Order discounts
Shipping discounts
Click Save.
Note:
Combining multiple discounts can significantly reduce cart value. We recommend testing different combinations to find a balance between customer incentive and profit margin.
6. Set coupon validity
To set the expiration of your coupon:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Validity section.
Select from these options and click Save:
Option | Description |
This coupon never expires | The coupon will remain valid indefinitely. |
This coupon expires after | Enter the number of days you want the coupon to be valid for. |
7. Add a coupon reminder
If you've set an expiration date for the coupon, you can send a reminder email to notify the customer before it expires.
To enable coupon reminder:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Validity section.
Select "This coupon expires after" and specify the number of days.
Enable "Send a reminder email before the coupon expires".
Specify how many days before the coupon expires to send the coupon reminder email.
Click Save.
To customize the coupon reminder email:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
Scroll down to the Validity section and click the Customize coupon reminder email button.
Adjust the subject and email content below to your likings and click Save.

Step 3: Customize your coupon emails
When all reward conditions are met, the reviewer will receive the coupon code via email.
To customize the coupon email:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.
In the Coupons section, click Edit coupon discount email.
Choose from the following tones of voice to match your brand:

Friendly
Direct
Elegant

The email tone of voice is only available in English. If you choose tone of voice while customizing text in other languages, the text will fall back to English.
Step 5: Highlight your reward for reviews
Let your customers know they can earn a discount by leaving a review that meets your chosen conditions. This helps increase review submissions and builds trust with future shoppers.
In the review request emails:
To promote your reward offer directly in the review request emails:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.
Scroll down to the Review collection emails section and click Edit.
Find the email you want to add the details in and click Edit.
In the body of the email, you can add something like "We’d love your feedback! Share a review and receive a special 10% discount for your next order."
Click Save.
In the Reviews Collection Page:
In our standalone Reviews Collection Page:
First, customers are prompted to leave a text review for the product.
Then, if you enable media uploads, customers can also add photos and videos.
If you've set different coupon tiers for text-only vs. photo/video reviews, Judge.me will display the corresponding discount value at each step.
In the Shopify Customer Accounts:
The same discount information will be displayed when customers submit reviews through the Judge.me review form inside their Shopify Customer Accounts, as long as you've enabled Judge.me in Customer Accounts.
Incentivized reviews
If you're running a rewards campaign, such as offering coupons through Judge.me, you can (and should) mark relevant reviews as incentivized. This improves transparency and aligns with trust guidelines across e-commerce platforms.
Automatic detection for Judge.me Coupons
When you use Judge.me Coupons in your rewards campaigns and enable the transparency badge, reviews submitted via those campaigns are automatically marked as incentivized.
Mark a review as incentivized in the Reviews Dashboard
From your Judge.me admin, go to Manage Reviews > Reviews Dashboard.
Find the review you want to mark as an incentivized review.
Click the 3-dot icon (...) on the right and select Mark review as incentivized.
Note: This option is only available if you choose to display the transparency badge for incentivized reviews on the Review Widget.
