Send coupons to customers who leave a review, helping boost engagement and loyalty

Rewarding customers with coupons encourages more reviews and increases repeat purchases. With Judge.me, you can automatically generate and send coupons to customers who leave a review via email or Shopify Customer Accounts - helping boost engagement and loyalty.

Step 1: Enable coupons

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app.

  2. Go to Marketing and Social > Coupons.

  3. Select Generate and send coupons automatically.

  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Customize coupon campaign

Now, you can customize your coupon campaign with rewards that fit your business. Check out the table below to explore all your customization options.

Description/Option

Coupon code

Enter a custom text, and Judge.me will generate a unique code after it to create the coupon. For example, 'THANKYOU-ABC123.

Campaign detail

A text to describe your coupon campaign. For example, Get a 10% discount if you submit a review with a photo.

Discount value

  • Same discount for all reviews - Offer the same discount (percentage off or fixed amount) for all review requests.

  • Different discount depending on media upload - Offer a higher discount (percentage off or fixed amount) for reviews with photos or videos to encourage customers to upload them.

Who can receive coupons

  • Any reviewer โ€“ No restrictions; anyone can use the coupon.

  • Only verified buyers โ€“ The reviewer must have made at least one verified purchase from the store.

  • Only verified buyers of the reviewed product โ€“ The reviewer must have purchased the exact product they reviewed, using the same email as their order.

  • Only reviewers who received a review request โ€“ The reviewer must submit their review through a Judge.me review request email, push notification, or SMS.

Type of review that triggers coupon emails

  • any review

  • reviews with title and body

  • reviews containing at least one phone or video

  • reviews containing at least one video

Requirement

  • No minimum requirement

  • Minimum order value

  • Minimum quantity of items

Eligibility

  • This coupon can only be used by the reviewer.

  • This coupon can only be used once by each customer.

  • The coupon can be used multiple times vs. Limit usage (x times).

Validity

  • This coupon never expires

  • This coupon expires after x days

Offer a higher discount for photo and video reviews (multi-tier coupon discounts)

Offering a higher discount for photo or video reviews incentivizes customers to share rich, visual content - enhancing product credibility, engagement, and conversions on your store. This coupon option applies to both email review requests and reviews via Shopify Customer Accounts, making it a powerful, automated way to drive more impactful reviews and sales.

  1. From Shopify admin, go to your Judge.me Reviews app

  2. Go to Marketing and Social > Coupons > Discount value

  3. Select Different discount depending on media upload

  4. Choose whether you want to offer a Percentage off or a Fixed amount

  5. Select the types of reviews you wish incentivise

  6. Assign an amount to the selected review type/types

  7. Click Save.

Note: When using multi-tier coupon discounts, each higher tier must offer an equal or greater discount than the lower one. For example, the discount for "With video" must be the same or higher than the discount for "With photo." Also, make sure media upload settings are turned on for this to work properly.

External coupon codes

If you have coupon codes from other sources, simply add them under External Coupon Codes, and weโ€™ll include them in Judge.meโ€™s coupon emails to your reviewers. These external coupons will take priority over those generated by the reward conditions above. Learn more about how to use these coupons in this detailed article.


For other e-commerce platforms

  1. Go to Settings > Rewards > Coupons > Enable Coupons.

  2. Toggle the bar to enable coupons.

  3. Add coupon details and coupon codes in other boxes.


Step 3: Customize coupon emails

  1. When all reward conditions are met, the reviewer will receive the coupon code via email. To personalize this email, go to the Coupons section and click Customize coupon email.

  2. Choose a tone of voice that matches your brand, and the email content will adjust automatically. You can then make any additional edits as needed.

  3. Click Save to apply your changes.

Send coupon emails in multiple languages

  1. In the coupon email editor, choose a language from the Currently editing in drop-down.

  2. Edit the translated version or replace it with your custom text.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Repeat for other languages as needed.

Note: The email tone of voice feature is only available in English. If you choose tone of voice while customizing text in other languages, the text will fall back to English.


For other e-commerce platforms

To customize the coupon email, go to Settings > Rewards > Coupon Email.


Step 4: Add coupon reminder emails

If your coupon has an expiration date, you can send a reminder email to reviewers before it expires. To set this up:

  1. Go to the Validity section and select Send a reminder email before the coupon expires.

  2. Choose the number of remaining days when a reminder will be triggered.

  3. Click Save, then click Customize coupon reminder email.

  4. Edit the email content as needed, then save your changes.

  3. Click Save.

Step 5: Add coupon details to review request emails

Once your coupon is set up, you can promote it in your review request emails by adding the variable {{ coupon_details }} to the email content. This will automatically display the campaign details you set in the Coupons section, encouraging more reviews.

By default, your campaign details appear on your Reviews Collection Page to encourage more customer reviews. This standalone page, provided by Judge.me, collects reviews from customers who click on review request emails. It is automatically set up when you enable review request emails.
