Product recommendation flow

The Product recommendation flow cross-sells new products to customers after an order.

Available on the Free plan

The Product recommendation flow cross-sells products a customer hasn't bought yet, a week or two after their order — the moment they're most open to discovering more of your range.

How it works

Trigger: On order placed. It sends once per order.

Three emails, with these default delays (all editable):

  1. Email 1: sends about 10 days after the order.

  2. Email 2: sends about 3 days after Email 1 (around day 13).

  3. Email 3: sends about 4 days after Email 2 (around day 17), with a discount block ready to turn on for an extra nudge. It's off by default.

Products the customer has already bought are excluded.

Considerations

  • Only customers subscribed to marketing emails get this flow. If someone places an order without ever subscribing, they don't get it at all.

  • If there are no eligible products to recommend for a given email, that email is skipped rather than sent with an empty space.

  • A new order restarts the sequence rather than running alongside the previous one — if a customer orders again while already partway through this flow, their next-due email resets to start again from the new order. Only the most recent order's sequence stays active.

  • Only one Product recommendation flow exists per shop — there's no option to add a second one, unlike some other flow types.

Filters

You can narrow who actually receives the Product recommendation flow, beyond just "placed an order." Entry filters (conditions someone must meet to enter the flow) and exit conditions (rules that pull them back out partway through) use almost the same fields — exit conditions leave out Discount used, since it's checked only at entry.

Available entry fields:

  • Order count — is / is greater than (or equal to) / is less than (or equal to).

  • Customer tags — is in / is not in.

  • Order value — is / is greater than (or equal to) / is less than (or equal to) / is between. This reads the order that triggered the flow.

  • Lifetime spend — is / is greater than (or equal to) / is less than (or equal to) / is between.

  • Contains product — includes any of / includes all of / doesn't include. Also reads the triggering order.

  • Contains collection — includes any of / includes all of / doesn't include. Also reads the triggering order.

  • Location — is any of / is not. Matches the country on the shopper's account address, not the delivery address — the two can differ.

  • Discount used — is / is not (entry filters only). Checks whether the triggering order used a discount code.

Exit conditions offer the same list minus Discount used.

You can combine up to 25 conditions across up to 10 groups (one level of AND/OR nesting).

Setting up filters

  1. From Judge.me Email admin, go to Flows.

  2. Click Product recommendation.

  3. On the Filters card, click Add filters (or Edit if you've already set some).

  4. Add your entry filters and/or exit conditions, then save.

Choosing which products to recommend

Recommendations come from a source you choose:

  • Best selling — your top-selling products.

  • Random — a varied selection from your catalog.

  • Customer's last basket — products related to their most recent order. Falls back to your store's recommended products when none are available.

You can also set how products are excluded — by Product (any variant) or Variant only — in Settings > Sending rules under Product exclusions.

Turn on the Product recommendation flow

  1. From your Judge.me Email admin, go to Flows.

  2. Open Product recommendation.

  3. Click Activate flow to turn on the flow and any follow-up emails.
