You can now collect reviews that include just a star rating—no written comment required. These reviews with only star ratings reduce friction for your customers and help increase review volume, while still contributing to your store’s credibility and overall performance metrics.
How to enable reviews with only star ratings
To allow customers to submit reviews without needing to leave a written comment:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Write a review > Customize.
Scroll down to the Review content section.
Check the box for Enable quick star ratings (the feature is off by default).
Click the Save to apply changes.
When enabled, customers can submit a review immediately after clicking a star. They are not required to write a comment to complete the submission (i.e, reviewers can simply click Next if they don't want to write a comment).

How star-only reviews work across Judge.me
Display in widgets
Star-only reviews appear in most standard Judge.me widgets, such as the Review Widget and All Reviews Page.
These star-only reviews, however, are not displayed in those widgets that require a text comment to display properly, including:
Reviews Carousel
Review Snippet Widget
Pop-up Widget
Sorting logic
Here’s how different sorting options work with star-only reviews:
Pictures first / Videos first: Reviews that include photos or videos appear first, followed by text-only reviews, then reviews with only star ratings at the bottom.
Most helpful: Reviews with the highest number of helpful votes appear first, then text-only, then star-only.
Other sorting methods (Most recent, Highest/Lowest rating): All review types are treated equally, regardless of content type.
Impact on ratings and medals
Reviews with only star ratings still play a meaningful role in your store’s performance metrics. Specifically:
Average product rating: These reviews are factored into your product’s overall rating. For example, a 4-star review without text will affect the average rating just like a 4-star review with a comment.
Verified review count: If a star-only review is submitted by a verified buyer, it is included in your total number of verified reviews.
Transparency and authenticity medals: Star-only reviews contribute to your medals. Transparency considers whether these reviews are published or hidden. Authenticity reflects whether the review was submitted by a verified buyer.
Coupons qualification
If your store uses Judge.me to send discount coupons after reviews are submitted, reviews with only star ratings will qualify as long as your reward settings allow coupons for any review.
Social sharing
Reviews with only star ratings are excluded from automatic social sharing to Facebook, Instagram, and X. You can still share these reviews manually using the social share buttons available on the Review Widget.
Review syndication with other platforms
Some platforms require both a rating and a written comment to display a review. As a result, reviews with only star ratings may not appear on those platforms.

Review management and export
In the Judge.me reviews dashboard:
You can pin reviews with only star ratings to highlight them on your Product Review Widget.
You cannot feature these reviews, as that adds the reviews to the Reviews Carousel, which requires a written comment.
When exporting your reviews, the star rating will appear with an empty comment field.
