Customize Judge.me email settings and templates

Access and customize all Judge.me email types from a single, unified settings page.

You can view and edit every email setting from one centralized location in the Collect Reviews > Emails tab. From sender information to design customization and advanced notification triggers, everything is just a click away.


Upgrade to new emails

If you installed Judge.me before our redesigned emails launched, you can upgrade in just a few clicks:

  1. Go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. When you see the yellow banner, click Upgrade now.

To upgrade to the new email templates:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. At the top of the page, look for the yellow banner.

  3. Click Upgrade now.


What happens after upgrading?

  • Free plan users can send emails with the new design, while Awesome plan users can access full customization options (text, color, etc.). If you're already on Awesome, switching to the new email templates comes at no extra cost.

  • If you've previously customized any notification emailsβ€”like media reminder emailsβ€”we'll send you sample versions so you can easily reuse your custom text in the new emails. If you're using the default templates, sample emails won’t be sent.

Adjust your email settings

1. Choose sender email

By default, review requests are sent from requests@judge.me. You can change the sender name and email address to better match your brand identity.

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Settings > Email settings, click Edit.

  3. In the Sender info section, click Add custom email.

  4. Enter your store business email and click Send confirmation email.

  5. To improve deliverability, we recommend verifying DKIM and Return-Path records. Due to the limitations of Postmark (our email provider), public email domains (e.g., gmail.com, outlook.com) cannot be verified.

To change your sender info:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Click Edit sender settings in the top right corner.
    ​

  3. Under Sender info, click Add custom email.

  4. Enter your store’s business email and click Send confirmation email.
    ​

  5. To improve deliverability, we recommend verifying DKIM and Return-Path records. Due to the limitations of Postmark (our email provider), public email domains (e.g., gmail.com, outlook.com) cannot be verified.


2. Exclude certain customers from review request emails

To skip sending review requests to specific groups:

  1. Go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Settings > Email settings, click Edit.

  3. Uncheck these boxes:

    • Send review requests to customers who have opted out of Shopify marketing emails

    • Send review requests for out-of-store products

To skip sending review requests to specific groups:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Request scheduling.
    ​

  2. Scroll down to the Advanced section.

  3. Uncheck the boxes for:

    • Send review requests to customers who have opted out of Shopify marketing emails

    • Send review requests for out-of-store products
      ​

  4. Click Save.
    ​


3. Choose email tone of voice

Available on the Awesome plan.

You can standardize your email language by tone:

  1. Go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Settings > Email settings, click Edit.

  3. Under Email tone of voice, choose from:

    • Friendly

    • Elegant

    • Direct

    • Custom (for full text control)

To customize your email tone:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. Click the Edit button next to the template you'd like to update.

  3. Scroll down to the Language section.

  4. Under Email tone of voice, choose one of the following:

    • Friendly – Warm and casual

    • Elegant – Polished and refined

    • Direct – Straightforward and clear

    • Custom – Full control over the email content.
      ​


Notes:

  • This tone of voice setting applies globally and only supports English (US).

  • To use a different tone of voice for a specific email (e.g., media reminder email), go to the tone of voice settings for that email.

4. Set blocklist and unsubscribed emails

Some settings are available on the Awesome plan.

To set your blocklist and unsubscribed emails:

  1. Go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Settings > Email settings, click Edit.

  3. In Blocklist and unsubscribed emails, click Manage blocklists.

To manage your blocklist:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Request scheduling.
    ​

  2. Scroll to the Blocklist and unsubscribed emails section.

  3. Click Manage blocklists.
    ​


Customize review request emails

More templates and customizations are available on the Awesome plan.

To create, customize the look of review requests and reminders:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Review collection emails > Review & review reminder emails, click Edit.

  3. Click Create template and choose a layout from the gallery.

  4. You can edit your email content using the drag-and-drop builder:

    1. Modify text, colors, and fonts to match your brand.

    2. Add content blocks such as product information, review buttons, banners, etc.

    3. Preview your changes before saving.

To create a new template:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. Under Review collection emails, click Edit.
    ​

  3. Click Create template, then choose a layout from the gallery.
    ​

To customize your template:

  • Edit the text, colors, and fonts to match your brand.

  • Add content blocks like product information, review buttons, banners, and more.

  • Preview your changes before saving and activating the template.


Customize customer notification emails

Customize email styling

Available on the Awesome plan.

To customize the look of your notification emails:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Styling > Email styling settings, click Edit.

  3. Customize the options below as needed:

Email layout

Header

Small, Medium, Large, Don't show, Custom

Alignment

Left, Center, Right

Footer

Add a footer text

Note: You can update your store logo in General Settings > Branding > Store logo.

Email styling

Corner styling

Square, Soft, Rounded, Extra round

Font

Choose a font from the list

Colors

Email color

Default colors (from your brand settings) vs. Custom colors

Unsubscribe from emails & Judge.me trust marks

Default, Light, Dark.

Note: You can disable Judge.me trust marks in General Settings > Judge.me trust marks. Learn more about how you can manage Judge.me trust marks.

You’ll see a live preview of your email on the right as you customize its design. In the top right corner, you can:

  • Switch between email types β€” Media Reminder, Review Confirmation, and more.

  • Toggle between mobile and desktop views to see how your email appears on different devices.

  • Send a sample email to preview it in your inbox.

To customize the look of your notification emails:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. In Customer notifications, click Edit template styling.
    ​

Then, customize the following sections:

Email layout

  • Header: Small, Medium, Large, Don’t show, Custom

  • Header alignment: Left, Center, Right

  • Footer: Add a custom footer message

Note: You can update your store logo by going to Settings > Branding and scroll to the Store logo section.

Email styling

  • Corner styling: Square, Soft, Rounded, Extra round

  • Font: Choose from available font options

Colors:

  • Email color: Use your default brand colors or apply custom colors.

  • Unsubscribe from emails & Judge.me trust marks: Choose Default, Light, or Dark theme.

Note: You can disable Judge.me trust marks in Settings > Branding then turn them off in the Judge.me trust marks section. Learn more about how you can manage Judge.me trust marks.

You’ll see a live preview of your email on the right as you customize its design. In the top right corner, you can:

  • Switch between email types β€” Media Reminder, Review Confirmation, and more.

  • Toggle between mobile and desktop views to see how your email appears on different devices.

  • Send a sample email to preview it in your inbox.


Customize email content

1. Media reminder

Available on the Awesome plan.

To send a reminder email if customers leave a review without a picture or video:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Post review notifications > Media reminder, click Edit.

  3. Under Media reminder email, choose Send a reminder if customers leave a review without a picture or video.

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  5. Click Save.

To enable and customize this reminder email if customers leave a review without a picture or video:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. Scroll to the Post-review notifications section.

  3. In the Media reminder panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Under Media reminder email, select Send a reminder if customers leave a review without a picture or video.

  5. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  6. Click Save.


2. Web review confirmation

Some settings are available on the Awesome plan.

To send a web visitor a confirmation email when they leave a review:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Post review notifications > Web review confirmation, click Edit.

  3. Under Review confirmation email, choose Send web visitor a confirmation email when they leave a review.

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  5. Click Save.

To send a web visitor a confirmation email when they leave a review:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the Post-review notifications section.

  3. In the Review confirmation panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Under Review confirmation email, select Send web visitor a confirmation email when they leave a review.

  5. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  6. Click Save.


3. Reply notification

Some settings are available on the Awesome plan.

To notify the reviewer by email when you reply to their review:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Post review notifications > Reply notification, click Edit.

  3. Under Reply notification email, choose Notify reviewer about new replies.

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  5. Click Save.

To notify the reviewer by email when you reply to their review:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. Scroll to the Post-review notifications section.

  3. In the Reply notification panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Under Reply notification email, select Notify reviewer about new replies.

  5. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  6. Click Save.


4. Q&A notification

Available on the Awesome plan.

To notify customers when you reply to their questions.

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Post review notifications > Q&A notification, click Edit.

  3. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  4. Click Save.

To customize the Q&A notification email:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.
    ​

  2. Scroll to the Post-review notifications section.

  3. In the Q&A notification panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  5. Click Save.


5. Coupon discount and reminder

Available on the Awesome plan.

To manage the emails used to send coupon discounts to your loyal customers:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Discounts and rewards > Coupon discount email, click Edit.

  3. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  4. Click Save.

To manage the emails used to remind your customers to redeem their coupons:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Discounts and rewards > Coupon reminder email, click Edit.

  3. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  4. Click Save.

To edit the coupon discount email:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the Discounts and rewards section.

  3. In the Coupon discount email panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  5. Click Save.

To edit the coupon reminder email:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the Discounts and rewards section.

  3. In the Coupon reminder email panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  5. Click Save.


6. Referral customer reward

Available on the Awesome plan.

To manage the emails used to send coupon discounts to your loyal customers.

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails.

  2. Under Customer notifications > Discounts and rewards > Referral customer reward email, click Edit.

  3. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.

  4. Click Save.

To edit the referral customer reward email:

  1. In your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Email templates.

  2. Scroll to the Discounts and rewards section.

  3. In the Referral customer reward email panel, click Edit.
    ​

  4. Edit the email template to match your brand. A live preview appears on the right as you customize.
    ​

  5. Click Save.
