Install the Review Widget

Step 1: Enable Judge.me app embed
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme you want to edit and click Customize.
Navigate to App embeds and enable Judge.me.
Click Save.
Step 2: Add the Review Widget
Click Add section > Apps > Review Widget.
Drag the block to adjust its position.
Click Save.
Review Widget settings
All customization options can be accessed from Widgets > Review Widget > Customize in your Judge.me settings.
1. Hide the review date
To hide your review date:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
In the Theme section, uncheck the box Show review date.
Click Save to apply your changes.
2. Customize the widget colors
To customize your widget colors:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
In the Colors section, adjust the color options as needed.
Click Save.
Basic color customizations

3. Enable the search bar
Available on the Awesome plan
To allow customers to search for reviews in the Review Widget:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll down to Search and pagination and enable "Show review search bar".
Click Save.
4. Hide the rating filter
Available on the Awesome plan
To hide the section where customers can filter reviews by ratings:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll down to Search and pagination and disable "Show the widget rating filter".
Click Save.
5. Set the default sorting method
Available on the Awesome plan. Get your 15-day free trial.
To set your default sorting method:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll down to Search and pagination.
Under Default sorting method, choose your preferred option from the dropdown, then click Save.
Option | What it does |
Most Recent | Shows the newest reviews first |
Highest Rating | Displays reviews with the highest star ratings first |
Lowest Rating | Displays reviews with the lowest star ratings first |
Only Pictures | Shows only reviews that include at least one image |
Pictures First | Prioritizes image reviews, followed by text-only reviews |
Videos First | Shows reviews with videos before others |
Most Helpful | Displays reviews with the most thumbs-up (likes) from customers first |
6. Change pagination type
Available on the Awesome plan
To adjust the pagination type and change how many reviews to display per page:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll down to Search and pagination.
Under Configure the pagination of reviews and questions, you can choose either:
"Use 'Load more' button to show more reviews"
or "Use pagination"
You can also adjust the "Number of reviews per page" to your preference (default to 5).
Click Save.
7. Choose how reviewer names are displayed
Available on the Awesome plan. Get your 15-day free trial.
To customize how reviewer names appear:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll to the Review card details section.
Under Reviewer name format, choose one of the following options, then click Save.
Option | How names will appear |
Show full name | Reviewer name will appear as "John Smith" |
Shorten last name | Reviewer name will appear as "John S" |
First name only | Reviewer name will appear as "J. Smith" |
Initials | Reviewer name will appear as "J. S" |
Anonymous | Reviewer name will appear as "Anonymous" |
8. Remove the reviewer avatar
Available on the Awesome plan
To remove the profile icon in the reviews:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll to the Review card details section.
Disable "Show avatar icon"
Click Save.
9. Show or hide the location of the reviewers
Available on the Awesome plan
To showcase the country of your reviewers:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll to the Review card details section.
Enable "Show reviewer location" and/or "Show reviewer country flag".
Click Save.
10. Add a "Read more" link in long reviews
Available on the Awesome plan
To limit the number of lines shown in each review:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll to the Review card details section.
Under Review length, select "Limit the number of lines shown".
Click Save.
11. Show review source
You can choose to:
Show links to Judge.me Review Site
Show review collection policy information: A link will be added at the bottom of the widget with information about the collection process and policies.
12. Choose Review Widget themes

To change the theme of your Review Widget:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
In Theme > Widget theme, choose from these options:
13. Hide the Review Widget when there's no review
To hide the Review Widget on products without reviews:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Manage Reviews > Moderation > Review restriction > Web reviews,
Choose either "Only buyers who have received a review request email and API users" or "Only buyers who have received a review request email".
Click Save.

15. Customize the texts in the Review Widget
To adjust or remove certain texts in your Review Widget:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Click Customize text.
Adjust the texts to your likings and click Save.

16. Customize the Review Widget with CSS
To apply more custom styling to your Review Widget:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Widgets > Review Widget > Customize.
Scroll down to Advanced and open the Custom CSS (Advanced) editor.
Add in the CSS code.
Click Save.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme you want to edit and click Customize.

Collect reviews with the Review Widget
In addition to sending review request emails, you can collect reviews directly on your product pages using the Review Widget.
When a customer submits a review via the Review Widget:
They’ll receive a confirmation email to verify their review.
The review is marked as verified if:
Judge.me detects a fulfilled order tied to the reviewer.
The reviewer confirms by clicking the link in the confirmation email.
Manage how reviews are displayed
You have full control over how reviews appear on your widget. To adjust moderation settings, go to Manage Reviews > Moderation in your Judge.me admin. For full details, see our review publishing guide.

Rating for auto-publish | Only auto-publish reviews with a rating in your chosen criteria. |

Censor PII | Hide personal identifiable information in submitted reviews. |
