When you install Judge.me, review requests will automatically be scheduled for new orders that are fulfilled after the installation. You can also add review requests for orders that were fulfilled before installing Judge.me to generate reviews right on installation and fuel your store with social proof.
How it works
Here's a quick look at how requesting reviews for past orders works:
You trigger the option in Judge.me to send review requests to past orders.
We retrieve up to 5,000 orders fulfilled from your selected date to today date. This includes:
Past orders (fulfilled before installing Judge.me), and
Orders already eligible for review requests (fulfilled after installing Judge.me).
We schedule the review requests for each product in the retrieved past orders, which will start showing in the Requests History dashboard.
We check if each request is valid (e.g. customer hasn’t unsubscribed, the product is not excluded) and update its status accordingly.
If the request is valid, it will appear as "Will send".
If the request is not valid, it will be skipped.
After 10 minutes, we send out the review request emails automatically for these retrieved past orders.
Considerations
You can retrieve and schedule review requests for up to 5,000 orders. This 5,000 limit includes both past orders and orders after installing Judge.me. Once the limit is reached, no additional orders will be retrieved — even if you select an earlier date or try again.
The feature is mainly intended for new users who want to request reviews from past orders fulfilled before installing Judge.me. If you’ve already been using Judge.me for some time and try to use this feature, it may not work as expected because recent orders are already included in your ongoing review request flow.
How to send review requests for past orders
To schedule review requests for past orders:
From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Request reviews.
Click the Schedule requests button next to Schedule requests for previous Shopify orders.
In the Schedule requests for previous orders pop-up:
In the "Send requests for orders created starting from" field, choose the date before you installed Judge.me. We will then retrieve all fulfilled orders between that date and today.
In the "Maximum number of emails to send for each order" field, choose how many review emails each customer should receive (we recommend 1).
Click Send requests.
Troubleshoot
I tried sending review requests to past order but 0 orders were processed
I tried sending review requests to past order but 0 orders were processed
When trying to send review requests for past orders, if you receive an email from us saying "0 orders from old customers were successfully processed", it means we weren't able to retrieve any fulfilled past orders. Check the following:
Selected date:
Make sure the date you chose in the “Send requests for orders created starting from” field is before you installed Judge.me. If you select a date after installation, no past orders will be retrieved.
For example: If you installed Judge.me on June 1st, 2025, choose a date like May 1st, 2025. If you select June 5th, 2025, no past orders will be fetched because that date is after installation.
Order limit:
If your store already has more than 5,000 fulfilled orders in Judge.me, no additional past orders will be fetched.
Fulfillment status:
If you have fewer than 5,000 current orders, check that your past orders are actually fulfilled. Only fulfilled orders are eligible for review requests.
