With Judge.me, you can group products to share reviews between them. Reviews from products in the same group will appear on all product pages within that group. This is useful for displaying reviews across product variants, similar products, or updated versions.

How it works

Here's a quick look at how Product Groups work once they're set up:

  1. You create a Static (Manual) or Dynamic (Automatic and Tag-based) product group in Judge.me.

  2. Each product in the group shares its reviews with all other products in that group.

  3. When a new review is submitted on any grouped product:

    • It's published on that product's page.

    • It also appears on the pages of all other products within the same group.

    • Review counts and ratings displayed on product pages are updated accordingly.

When to use product groups

Product groups help you optimize review sharing in the following scenarios:

  1. Product variants with separate listings: If you sell variations of the same product (e.g., different colors or sizes), each as a separate product, grouping them ensures customers see all relevant reviews in one place.

  2. Similar products serving the same purpose: Items that perform the same function, such as different models of a remote-controlled car, can benefit from shared reviews to reinforce their quality and usability.

  3. New version of the same product:

    • If you replace older or seasonal items with new versions, grouping them allows you to retain and display past reviews for continued credibility.

    • When launching an improved or rebranded version of an existing product, grouping ensures that valuable past reviews remain visible to potential buyers.

    • If you need to delete the old product and create a new product page for that same product, you can group the deleted product and the old product to show your reviews in this new product.

  4. Merged products: If you plan to merge separate products (e.g., different variants of a product) into a single product, product groups allow you to show reviews from the old products into this new merged product.

Considerations

  • Each product can only belong to 1 product group.

  • Each product group can include up to 10,000 products.

  • After adding a product to a group, reviews may take at least 2 minutes to appear.

  • Out-of-stock products can also be added to a group.

  • If your product group automation was previously set up by our team, you might still see the old settings. Your existing groups will continue to work as usual, and no action is needed on your side.

Static product groups (manual)

Static groups are product groups you build manually by selecting and adding products yourself.

If you're adding products into the groups manually, the first 25 products update immediately. The rest of the products will update when a new review is received, published, or hidden.

1. Create a static group

To create and add products to a static product group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. To create a new static group:

    • If you have no existing product groups: click the Create a static product group button.

    • If you've created product groups before:

      • Click the Create group ▾ button on the right.

      • Select "Static group"

  3. In the Group name section, enter a name for your group (50 characters maximum).

  4. Add products to the group:

    • Click the Add products manually button on the right.

    • Select the products you'd like to group. You can search by product title or use filters such as product Type or Vendor to find items easily.

    • Once you've selected your products, click Add.

  5. Click Save.

2. Change your static group name

To change the name of any static product group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Find the group you'd like to add products to.

  3. Click the three-dot icon (...) on its left and select Edit.

  4. In the name field, change the group name.

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save.

3. Add more products to a static group

To add more products to a static group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Find the group you'd like to add products to.

  3. Click the three-dot icon (...) on its left and select Edit.

  4. Click the Add products manually button on the right.

  5. Select your new products and click Add.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save.

4. Remove a product from a static group

From the Product Groups dashboard

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Find the group you'd like to remove the product(s) from.

  3. Click the three-dot icon (...) on its left and select Edit.

  4. Select the product(s) you want to remove.

  5. Click Remove from group at the bottom.

After removing the product(s), each individual product widgets refresh to display its original review count, and the group's total reviews are recalculated to exclude the count of the removed product.

From the Products dashboard

To remove a product from a static product group using the Products dashboard (best if you're unsure which group the product belongs to):

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product management.

  2. Find the product you'd like to remove from a group, and click the group name.

  3. In the Product group pop-up, and click Remove group.

Note: The group dropdown is currently not functional in Safari. Please use a different browser (such as Chrome) to manage your groups.

5. Move a product to a new static group

To move a product from 1 static group to another:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product management.

  2. Find the product you'd like to remove from a group, and click the group name.

  3. In the Product group pop-up, select a new group to add the product to.

  4. Click Add group.

Dynamic product groups (automatic)

Dynamic groups are product groups built automatically based on product tags.

  • Each dynamic group uses one tag as its rule.

  • The dynamic group will be named after the tag (e.g. "Tag: apple"). This name cannot be changed.

  • Any product that has this tag will be automatically added to the group.

  • If the tag is removed, the product is automatically excluded. Because of this, if you manually add a product to the dynamic group, but it doesn't have the relevant tag, it might get removed later.

  • Updates happen daily, so your group stays in sync with your product tags.

1. Create a dynamic group

To create a dynamic product group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. To create a new static group:

    • If you have no existing product groups: click the Create a dynamic product group button.

    • If you've created product groups before:

      • Click the Create group ▾ button on the right.

      • Select "Dynamic group"

  3. Select the product tag you'd like the group to be based on.

    • Each group can only sync with one tag.

    • Selecting multiple tags creates separate groups automatically.

  4. Once selected, click Add

  5. Clicking Create to confirm.

2. Refresh the products in the groups

If you've just added the product tag to new products, you can manually refresh the dynamic group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Click the Refresh all groups button.

Delete a product group

If you no longer want to group reviews across multiple products, you can delete the product group(s). Once the group(s) are deleted, reviews will return to being displayed individually on each product instead of being shared across the group(s).

1. Delete a product group

To delete a product group:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Find the group you want to delete.

  3. Click the three-dot icon (...) on its left and select Delete.

  4. Click Delete again to confirm.

2. Delete multiple product groups

To delete multiple product groups in bulk:

  1. From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Product Groups.

  2. Find and select the groups you'd like to delete.

  3. Click the Delete groups button at the bottom.

  4. Click Delete again to confirm.
