Judge.me Email: Using your image library

Add images once and reuse them in your emails, popups, and logo. Find them fast, and keep Shopify images up to date.

Available on the Free plan

The image library keeps every image you add in one place. You can reuse an image in your emails, popups, and logo without uploading it again. You open it from any image field.

How the image library works

Use the image library to:

  • Reuse images: Add an image once, then pick it again in as many emails, popups, and logos as you like.

  • Find images fast: Search by file name, or filter by file type, file size, or where an image is used.

  • Add images from Shopify: Pick a file from your Shopify files instead of downloading and uploading it.

  • Keep Shopify images up to date: If you change a file in Shopify, pick it again to update every email, popup, and logo that uses it.

The library opens in the Select image window. You can open it from these fields:

  • Image field of an Image or Image with text block in the email editor. This covers campaigns, flow emails, and saved templates.

  • Logo and Image fields in the Style section of a popup.

  • Logo field on the Branding page.

To learn more about the editor, see Using the email template editor. To learn more about the Branding page, see Setting up your email branding.

Considerations

The image library has these limits and behaviors:

  • Each field takes its own file types. A popup Logo takes PNG or WebP. A branding Logo takes PNG, JPG, or WebP. Every other image field takes JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP.

  • Images a field can't take are grayed out. The Select image window shows "File type not supported here" or "Too large for this use" on them.

  • Images can be up to 20 MB. This is the same on every image field. The hint under the field shows the limit.

  • Your store can add 100 images and 500 MB per day. The day resets at midnight UTC.

  • Your library holds up to 1,000 images. Delete images you no longer need to free up space.

  • You can't delete an image that's in use. Remove it from every email, popup, and logo that uses it first.

  • Deleting an image is permanent. It can't be undone.

  • An image you add from a URL isn't added to your library. It's only used in the field you added it to.

  • Images you add from Shopify are copies. We never change your Shopify files, and images you add in the app don't appear in Shopify.

  • We don't notice changes made in Shopify. To use a new version of a file, pick it again. See "Update a Shopify image in the image library".

  • An image you uploaded yourself isn't linked to its Shopify file. Picking that file from Shopify adds a new copy.

  • Images from Shopify count toward your daily limits and your 1,000 images. Picking a changed file again doesn't use a new space in your 1,000 images.

  • Campaigns that are sending or already sent never change. Their old images stay as they are.

  2. Click Manage brand and styling.

  5. Select the image you want to use.

  6. Click Select.

  7. Click Save on the top right.

You can open the same window from any image field. The steps after opening it are the same.

  1. From your Judge.me Email app, go to Templates.

  2. Click Manage brand and styling.

  3. In the Logo field, click Select image. If your logo is already set, click Upload or select image instead.

  5. Click Add from URL.

  6. In the Image URL field, enter the link to your image.

  7. Click Add image.

Add images from Shopify to the image library

Available on the Free plan

Use images already in your Shopify files without leaving the app. The image goes straight into the field, and a copy is added to your image library.

To add an image from Shopify to the image library:

  1. From your Judge.me Email app, go to Templates.

  2. Click Manage brand and styling.

  3. Next to the Logo field, click Add from Shopify.

  4. In Shopify's file picker, select an image.

  5. Confirm your choice in the picker.

  6. Click Save on the top right.

You can add one image each time you click Add from Shopify.

Add from Shopify shows next to the image button on these fields:

  • Image field of an Image or Image with text block in the email editor. Select the block, then look in the sidebar.

  • Logo and Image fields in the Style section of a popup.

  • Logo field on the Branding page.

It doesn't show inside the Select image window, or on the empty image placeholder on the email canvas.

Update a Shopify image in the image library

Available on the Free plan

Changes you make to a file in Shopify don't reach the app on their own. To use the new version, pick the same file again.

To update a Shopify image in the image library:

  1. From your Judge.me Email app, go to Templates.

  2. Click Manage brand and styling.

  3. Next to the Logo field, click Add from Shopify.

  4. In Shopify's file picker, select the same file.

  5. Confirm your choice in the picker.

  6. If the image is used elsewhere, review the list in Update where this image is used?.

  7. Click Update all.

Update all switches the image in your library and in every place on the list. These places are:

  • Campaigns that are in draft, failed, scheduled, or in review.

  • Flow emails.

  • Saved templates.

  • Popups.

  • The logo saved in Branding.

Emails already sent keep the old image. Cancel keeps the old image everywhere, including your library.

If the image isn't used anywhere, we replace the library copy straight away and show Image updated. If the file hasn't changed in Shopify, the image already in your library fills the field and nothing else changes.

Troubleshoot

Using the image library can run into these issues:

I can't select an image

The field can't take that image. The Select image window grays it out and says "File type not supported here" or "Too large for this use". Use an image with a file type and size the field lists under it.

"That image is too large"

The image is over the 20 MB limit. The message shows the limit. Use a smaller file.

"You've reached today's image upload limit"

Your store can add 100 images and 500 MB per day. Try again tomorrow. The day resets at midnight UTC.

"You've reached your image limit"

Your library holds up to 1,000 images. Delete images you no longer need, then try again.

I can't delete an image

The image is in use. The message names where, for example "This image is in use in Emails and Popups, so it can't be deleted." Remove it there first, then delete it.

I replaced my logo in Shopify, but my emails still show the old one

We don't watch your Shopify files for changes. Click Add from Shopify, pick the same file, then click Update all.

I picked a new version and clicked Cancel, but my library still shows the old image

Cancel keeps the old image everywhere. Pick the file again and click Update all.

I have two copies of the same image

We only recognize a file we first added from Shopify. An image you uploaded yourself arrives as a new copy. Delete the one you don't need.

"Couldn't update [campaign name] because it started sending"

That campaign began sending before the update reached it, so it keeps the old image. A sent email can't change.

"Updated [number] of [number] places. Couldn't update: [names]"

Those places still use the old image. Click Try again, or change the image in each place yourself.

"Couldn't open your Shopify files" or "Couldn't add the image from Shopify"

Try again. If it keeps happening, contact our support team.

"The places now use the new image, but the library still shows the old one"

This is rare. Contact our support team and we'll finish the update.
