Judge.me Email: Choosing images and titles for hand-picked products in the Product block

Set the image shape and fit for your Product blocks, and pick the image and title for each hand-picked product.

Available on the Free plan

The Product block shows your products in cards. You can choose the shape and fit of every product image. For hand-picked products, you can also choose exactly which image and title show.

How it works

  • Image shape sets the shape of every product image in the block: Square (1:1), Portrait (4:5), or Landscape (3:2). It works for hand-picked and Dynamic blocks.

  • Image fit sets whether the image is cropped or shown whole. Crop to fill fills the shape and may cut off the edges. Fit whole image shows all of it, with the card background around it.

  • Both settings follow your branding by default (Same as branding). You can set them for one block, or for every Product block in your branding settings.

  • Set the block’s Mode to Manual to hand-pick products instead of letting Judge.me choose them.

  • Each hand-picked product has a small thumbnail in the sidebar. Click it to open Choose image and pick any image from that product’s Shopify gallery.

  • If the image you chose is later removed in Shopify, the thumbnail shows a warning. The email then uses the product’s main image automatically.

  • To change a product’s title, click the menu icon next to the product, then click Edit title. The new title shows on that product’s card in this email only. Your Shopify product and your other emails keep the Shopify title.

  • A product with a custom title shows a Custom title badge in the sidebar. To go back to the Shopify title, reset it.

  • The image chooser and custom titles only apply to hand-picked (Manual) products. Dynamic sources (Best selling, Most reviewed, Random, Customer’s last cart, Collection) pick the products for you. So there’s no single product to customize in advance. Each product’s own main image and Shopify title are used instead.

Considerations

  • The image chooser needs the product to have at least one image in Shopify. A product with no images can't show a different one until you add one.

  • The image chooser shows up to 50 images from the product's Shopify gallery.

  • Choosing a different image doesn’t change the product’s main image in Shopify. It only changes what shows in this email block.

  • A custom title applies to that product in that email only. Your Shopify product and every other email keep the Shopify title.

  • A custom title doesn’t follow Shopify renames. If you rename the product in Shopify, the email keeps the custom title until you reset it.

  • If Show title is off, the card shows no title, custom or not.

  • A title can be up to 100 characters. Line breaks become spaces.

  • A product deleted in Shopify shows its product number instead of its title, and you can’t edit it. Its card isn’t sent. Remove the product or pick another one.

  • The AI assistant keeps your custom titles and chosen images when it edits your email. It never sets or changes them.

  • When image shape was released, every existing Product block was set to Same as branding. Your branding starts at Square (1:1), so product images in your existing emails and flows now show in that shape.

  • A campaign that was already scheduled, on hold, paused, or sending at that time kept the old look. It doesn't show the shape and fit settings until you return it to draft.

  • The shape applies on desktop. On a phone, the image shows at its natural height. Some inboxes remove styling, so a phone can keep the desktop shape and crop a portrait image.

  • A branding change doesn't reach your flow emails until you click Update flows. Update flows also resets the image shape and fit set on individual blocks in your flow emails.

  • Image shape and fit work in Dynamic blocks too. The image chooser and custom titles don't.

  • The AI assistant never changes a block's image shape or fit.

Choose products from a collection

You can show products from one Shopify collection instead of your whole store.

To choose products from a collection:

  1. From your Judge.me Email admin, open the flow or campaign with the Product block.

  2. Click the Product block to open its settings.

  3. From the Mode dropdown, select Dynamic (pick from store).

  4. From the Source dropdown, select Collection.

  5. Click Choose a collection, and pick one collection in the Shopify picker.

  6. From the Show products by dropdown, select:

    • Best selling (default)

    • Most reviewed

    • Random.

  7. Click Save.

A product shows only if it's active, published to your Online Store, and available to buy. A product that's set to keep selling when it's out of stock still shows.

Only the first 50 best-selling products in the collection are used. Most reviewed and Random pick from those 50.

Changes you make in Shopify, like stock or products, can take up to 15 minutes to show in your emails.

If the collection was deleted, has no products, or has only draft or unavailable products:

  • The editor shows a warning.

  • The Product block is left out when the email sends.

  • Product recommendation, Winback, and Back in stock emails aren't sent to that customer at all.

On a flow email, you can't save, activate, or send until you choose a collection. Drafts, templates, and draft campaigns can save without one.

    • Landscape (3:2)

  5. From the Image fit dropdown, select one of the following options:

    • Fit whole image (default)

    • Crop to fill

  6. Click Save.

You can also click Set your brand defaults, below the image settings in a Product block, to go straight there.

Your new branding reaches each email in a different way. Draft campaigns pick it up when you save. Flow emails only change when you click Update flows. To learn more, see Setting up your email branding.

Troubleshoot

The image I chose isn't showing, or the thumbnail shows a warning

Issue:

The thumbnail shows a warning triangle, or the email sends with a different image than you chose.

Why it happens:

The image you picked was removed from the product in Shopify after you chose it.

How to fix:

Open the image chooser again and pick another image from the product's current gallery, or leave it — the email automatically falls back to the product's main image.

The image chooser says it couldn't load the images

Issue:

The Choose image window shows "We couldn't load this product's images from Shopify. Close this and try again."

Why it happens:

We couldn't get the product's images from Shopify at that moment.

How to fix:

Close the Choose image window, wait a moment, and open it again.

I can’t change a product’s title

Issue:

The product has no Edit title option, or you can’t see the product list.

Why it happens:

Custom titles only work for hand-picked products. A Dynamic block picks the products for you. A product deleted in Shopify also can’t be edited.

How to fix:

From the Mode dropdown, select Manual (specific products) and pick your products. If a product shows a number instead of its title, it was deleted in Shopify. Remove it or pick another product.

My product images changed shape

Issue:

Product images in your emails look different from before.

Why it happens:

Product images used to sit in a box of fixed height. They now use a shape. Your existing blocks follow your branding, which starts at Square (1:1).

How to fix:

Set a shape on the Product block, or change the shape for all your blocks in your branding settings.

I changed the shape in my branding, but my emails didn't change

Issue:

A flow email or a draft campaign still shows the old shape.

Why it happens:

Flow emails keep their own copy of your branding until you click Update flows. A campaign keeps the branding it had when you last saved it.

How to fix:

For flows, click Update flows on the Branding page. For a campaign, open it in the editor and save it. A block with its own image shape or fit keeps it, unless you update flows.

My product image is cropped on my phone

Issue:

A product image is cut off on a phone.

Why it happens:

Some inboxes remove the styling that lets the image show whole on a phone. The image shape setting doesn't change this.

How to fix:

Choose Fit whole image for the block, and use images that look good in a square.

I renamed a product in Shopify, but my email still shows the old title

Issue:

The product card in your email shows the old product title.

Why it happens:

The product has a custom title in this email. A custom title doesn't follow Shopify renames.

How to fix:

  1. Click the menu icon next to the product, and click Edit title.

  2. In the Title in this email field, click Reset.

  3. Click Apply, then Save.
