Creating custom flows

Create your own flows on top of the six built-in ones, so you can run more than one version of a flow for different products or segments.

Available on the Free plan

Want a second version of a flow? You can now create your own flows on top of the six built-in ones. Use this for things like a thank-you email for one product line only, or a welcome flow that targets a specific segment.

How it works

You can have more than one flow on the same trigger. For example, you can run two Post-purchase flows at once. Give each one its own entry filters, so they target different products or customer segments instead of overlapping.

Use the Has entered flow filter to stop a contact from getting two similar flows. For example, set your new welcome flow to exclude anyone who already entered your original welcome flow. "Entered" means the contact was enrolled in that flow at all. They don't need to have actually received an email from it.

For Abandoned checkout specifically, entries older than 90 days don't count toward this filter.

Considerations

  • You can't change a flow's trigger after it's created.

  • Winback and Back in stock aren't available as a starting point for a custom flow. They also can't be duplicated. Both rely on one setting for your whole store: Winback's inactivity threshold, and Back in stock's waitlist. That setting can't be split across separate flows.

  • A new flow only applies going forward. It doesn't apply retroactively. For example, a new Abandoned checkout flow won't catch checkouts that were already abandoned before you turned it on.

Setup

Setting up a custom flow takes a few clicks, and you can start from scratch or from a copy of an existing flow.

  1. From your Judge.me Email admin, go to Flows.

  2. On your top-right, click Create flow.

  3. Choose a starting point:

    • Start from blank — pick a trigger yourself: Subscribed, Placed order, or Abandoned checkout.

    • Or use a ready-made flow — start from a copy of Welcome email, Post-purchase thank you, Abandoned checkout, or Product recommendation.

  4. Name the flow. This name is only for you. Customers never see it.

  5. Click Create. Your flow opens with one draft email ready to edit.

Customization

Once you have a custom flow, you can manage it the same way you'd manage any flow. Some actions only apply to certain flow types:

  • Rename — any flow, built-in or custom, from its settings.

  • Duplicate — only flows of type Welcome, Post-purchase thank you, Abandoned checkout, or Product recommendation. Built-in Winback and Back in stock can't be duplicated.

  • Archive — only custom flows. Built-in flows can't be archived.

  • Restore — bring back an archived flow without losing its history.

  • Delete — only available for a custom flow that's archived. It must also have never sent an email. If another flow's Has entered flow filter still references it, remove that reference first.
