Judge.me Email sends a campaign to your known contacts first, then to your new or inactive contacts at a slower pace. This protects your delivery and your sender reputation. The campaign keeps sending until it's finished.
How contact groups work
The two groups
Judge.me Email puts every contact on a campaign into one of 2 groups when the send starts:
Known contacts: Addresses we have good reason to trust. They send first, and they send fast.
New or inactive: Addresses we know less about, or haven't seen activity from in a long time. They send after your known contacts, at a slower pace.
The group is fixed for that send. A contact who changes group while the campaign is sending stays in the group they started in.
Why new or inactive contacts send slower
New or inactive addresses are more likely to bounce. Too many bounces hurt your sender reputation and can pause your sending. Sending to them slowly gives us time to spot a problem and stop before it spreads.
Addresses that are very likely to bounce aren't emailed at all. This includes mistyped email domains and addresses that bounced before. It can also include addresses with no name on file, but welcome, back in stock, and sign-up confirmation emails still go to those.
What decides the group
We look at what we know about each address when the send starts. For example:
Whether we have delivered to the address before, and how long ago. An address we last reached more than 5 years ago counts as New or inactive.
Whether the address has bounced before.
Whether the address looks mistyped, such as a misspelled email domain.
You can't change which group a contact is in, and you can't see the speed for each group.
How to read your campaign's send progress
On the campaign page
To see how a campaign send is going:
From your Judge.me Email admin, go to Campaigns.
Click the campaign.
Find the Send progress card.
The card shows the following:
A bar split into the 2 groups: Known contacts are blue and New or inactive are grey. Each group is as wide as its share of your recipients.
How many emails each group has sent: For example, "3,200 of 5,000 sent".
The percent sent: This is for the whole campaign.
The time left: This is one estimate for the whole campaign. It shows "Less than a minute left", "About 40 min left", or "About 5 hr left". For 24 hours or more, it shows a finish date instead.
The numbers refresh about every 30 seconds while the page is open.
Before you send
On the last step of the campaign, under Estimated recipients, we show roughly how many contacts are in each group, marked with a ~.
We also show when the send should finish, for example "If you send now, this finishes around 3:00 PM".
If most of the campaign goes to new or inactive contacts and the send would take more than 3 days, we show a notice with the finish date. Sending still works. It just takes that long.
In the campaigns list
In the Campaigns list, a sending campaign shows a slim bar and a line such as "Finishes about 3:00 PM". Click the campaign to see the full card.
Considerations
Contact groups and send progress have these limits and behaviors:
Known contacts always send first. New or inactive contacts start only after all your known contacts on that campaign have sent.
The finish time is an estimate. Your other campaigns and automated emails share the same sending speed, so the time can move.
Campaigns and automated emails share the speed. Automated emails don't show a progress bar.
You can cancel a send, but you can't pause it. Click Cancel send on the campaign page. Emails already sent can’t be recalled, and contacts who haven’t received it yet are skipped. To send it again later, duplicate the campaign.
A new store's speed rises on its own. The Sending limits card tells you when this applies. You don’t need to ask for an increase. If you need more speed sooner, see Sending limits: how fast your emails go out, and how to ask for more.
Some stores send to known contacts only for now. If your store is restricted after too many bounces, the app shows Sending to your most engaged contacts. New or inactive contacts show Waiting, and there’s no finish time. Known contacts send as normal. The restriction lifts on its own once your bounce rate stays below the level shown on Home. Then new or inactive contacts get the campaign.
Skipped contacts leave the total. If someone unsubscribed, bounced, or is suppressed, they're removed from their group's total. The campaign can still reach 100%.
Campaigns already sending, and campaigns sent before, show less. A campaign that was sending when your store got this feature shows one plain All contacts bar. A campaign sent earlier shows no card.
Troubleshoot
My campaign looks stuck
My campaign looks stuck
Check the Send progress card on the campaign page. If the bar is in the New or inactive part, the campaign is sending, just more slowly. The time left tells you when it should finish. Cancel the campaign only if you want to stop it.
New or inactive shows "Waiting"
New or inactive shows "Waiting"
Your store is restricted to known contacts for now. The restriction lifts on its own once your bounce rate stays below the level shown on Home. Your other contacts then get the campaign. You can cancel the campaign if you'd rather not wait.
The finish time keeps changing

The estimate includes your other campaigns and automated emails, which share the same sending speed. It updates as they send.
The campaign says "Paused by Judge.me"
The campaign says "Paused by Judge.me"
We paused the send because too many emails were going to addresses that don't exist. Our team checks your list and resumes the send or contacts you. You can still cancel the campaign. A higher sending limit won't fix this pause.
