Carti is an AI shopping assistant for Shopify that answers shopper questions, recommends products, and helps close sales inside the chat. By connecting Judge.me to Carti, your real customer reviews power the assistant's responses — so when a shopper asks "does it run small?" or "how do people like this?", Carti finds and quotes a relevant review right in the conversation.
With this integration, you can:
Answer shopper questions using your real Judge.me reviews, so buyers hear from other customers without leaving the conversation.
Meet objections at the moment of doubt — Carti finds the review that answers the question and quotes a real customer.
Show star ratings and review counts on every product Carti recommends.
Point shoppers toward your best-reviewed products, ranked by rating.
How it works
The integration connects your Judge.me reviews to Carti's AI engine through the following flow:
You connect Carti to Judge.me using your Private API Token.
Carti pulls your published reviews from Judge.me via the API.
Carti indexes and interprets the review content so it can be searched in real time.
When a shopper asks a question in the chat, Carti searches your indexed reviews for the most relevant answer.
Carti quotes the matching review directly in the conversation, alongside star ratings and review counts for the recommended product.
Considerations
This integration is developed and maintained by the Carti team. While we're happy to guide you where we can, the Carti support team will be best equipped to assist you with any questions or issues.
How to set it up
Before you begin
Install the Judge.me Product Reviews app.
Install the Carti app.
Have at least one product with published Judge.me reviews.
Have your Judge.me Private API Token ready. You can find it in Judge.me by going to Settings > Integrations > View API tokens.
Step 1: Connect Judge.me to Carti
From your Shopify admin, open the Carti app.
Click Settings.
Expand the third section, "Do you have a reviews provider?".
Open the Review Provider dropdown and select Judge.me.
Go to your Judge.me admin and navigate to Settings > Integrations > View API tokens. Copy the Private token.
Back in Carti, paste your Private API Token into the API Key field.
Click Test Connection. You should see a green "Connection successful!" message.
Click Save in the bar at the top of the screen.
Important: Make sure you use the Private token, not the Public one. If you see an error on the connection test, double-check that you copied the Private token from Judge.me Settings > Integrations > View API tokens.
Step 2: Wait for reviews to sync
After saving, the reviews card in Carti shows your review count climbing from zero as Carti pulls in your reviews. The reviews go through two stages:
Importing — Carti downloads your reviews from Judge.me.
Interpreting — Carti indexes and prepares the reviews for search.
Wait for the badge to turn from yellow to green before testing. No action is needed during this process. On a small store this takes a few minutes; on a store with tens of thousands of reviews, it can take a couple of hours.
Step 3: Test the integration
Once the badge is green, open your storefront chat or Carti's Playground.
Ask about a product you know has reviews. Try questions like "How do people like this?" or "Do these run small?".
Verify that Carti quotes from your real Judge.me reviews in its response.
Troubleshooting
"Connection failed" error when testing the connection
"Connection failed" error when testing the connection
Issue:
You click Test Connection and see an error instead of a green success message.
Why it happens:
This almost always means you pasted the Public token instead of the Private one. The two tokens look similar, but only the Private token grants Carti the access it needs.
How to fix:
Go to your Judge.me admin, navigate to Settings > Integrations > View API tokens, copy the Private token, paste it into Carti's API Key field, and click Test Connection again.
Badge stays yellow after saving
Badge stays yellow after saving
Issue:
The reviews badge in Carti remains yellow and doesn't turn green.
Why it happens:
Carti is still importing and interpreting your reviews. For stores with large catalogs or tens of thousands of reviews, this process can take up to a couple of hours.
How to fix:
Wait for the process to complete. If the badge is still yellow after several hours, contact Carti's support team for assistance.
Carti doesn't quote reviews in its answers
Carti doesn't quote reviews in its answers
Issue:
You ask a question in the chat but Carti doesn't reference any Judge.me reviews.
Why it happens:
The reviews badge must be green before Carti can search and quote reviews. If the badge is still yellow, the reviews haven't finished indexing yet.
How to fix:
Check that the badge in Carti's settings is green. If it's still yellow, wait for the sync to complete. Also make sure the product you're asking about has published reviews in Judge.me.
