Segments group your subscribers by how they engage with your emails, like people who keep clicking or people who've gone quiet. Use them as an audience for campaigns, alongside your existing Shopify segments.
How it works
A segment is a set of rules. Each rule checks one thing, like "opened an email in the last 30 days." You can combine rules with any (match at least one rule) or all (match every rule).
Judge.me Email ships with 4 ready-made segments to start from:
Engaged (last 30 days) — opened or clicked in the last 30 days.
Clickers (last 30 days) — clicked in the last 30 days.
Lapsed (no opens in 90 days) — received an email, but hasn't opened one in 90 days.
Purchased from email (last 90 days) — bought something after clicking through an email, in the last 90 days.
You can use any of these as they are, or as a starting point for your own rules.
Supported
Each rule checks one event:
Opened an email
Clicked a link in an email
Purchased after an email
Received an email (whether one was sent to them at all)
And one condition on that event:
In the last / not in the last — a number of days.
At least / exactly zero times — a count, all-time.
Not every combination applies to every event. For example, Purchased only supports the "in the last / not in the last" day-based conditions, not a count.
Considerations
A segment can have up to 25 rules.
A campaign can use up to 15 segments in total. This combines both Shopify segments and your own engagement segments.
Segment names must be unique within your store.
Right now, engagement segments only work for campaigns. They're not available for flows or the sign-up popup yet.
Setup
Create a segment
From your Judge.me Email admin, go to Subscribers > Segments. The 4 ready-made segments are always listed there alongside your own, so you can see exactly what each one matches before using it.
Start from a ready-made segment
Find the ready-made segment you want in the list.
Next to it, click Duplicate to edit.
Adjust its rules if you want to, or leave them as they are.
Name your segment, then click Save.
This creates your own copy of the ready-made segment. The original stays as it was, so it's always there to duplicate again later.
Build your own segment
Click Create segment.
Add your rules: pick an event, a condition, and a value for each one.
Choose whether the segment should match any of your rules or all of them.
Name your segment, then click Save.
Use a segment in a campaign
From your Judge.me Email admin, go to Campaigns, and open or create a campaign.
In the Audience step, open Audience list.
Pick your segment from the list, alongside any Shopify segments. You can select more than one.
